Terminal Nihilism

In Orchids, the characters are implied to be depressed, but it's rarely stated directly. I've seen claims the early Sonic games were set on Mobius while later ones changed it to Earth. I doubt they could watch the news or read it without questioning why they bother trying to help. Sometimes it all feels so hopeless.
