Moments of Levity

I never want anyone to think for a second that I don't take topics like the ones presented in Skylines seriously. Any sort of serious crime, especially one of a sexual nature, has the capacity to destroy lives in ways that go far beyond what we see, regardless of whether it's focused on the falsely accused or genuine survivors. No one should ever have to go through that from either perspective. It's horrible in every way imaginable, and that's precisely why I think we need moments of lightheartedness and peace to counteract the raw brutality. It's also why I don't use these themes for shock value, because they're terrible enough as it is without exploitation being thrown into the mix. Everything Lily does after Tails is released is carefully calculated to help him feel a sense of normalcy again, because the reality is, it'll follow him around forever, and people will treat him differently because of it. He needs that support to help him stay sane when the rest of the world feels like it's against him, and that's the entire point of her character. To show him it's not. The closest thing to overtly sexual humor will probably be Lily sharing a picture showing off his physique because he's working and it's hot outside. From her point of view, she's poking fun at him for being a grease monkey, which, while historically meant as a pejorative to describe mechanics, is often used in personal contexts as a term of endearment, and that's where the humorous aspect ends. The rest of the time leading up to their confrontations with the villains, they're just hanging out together doing typical stuff like gaming, training, or going out to eat. Ordinary activities people do all the time. Pairing her therapeutic regimen with his advocacy for victims, you see the goodness of his character shine through to its fullest, and that's how I wanted to portray him throughout - as the kind, compassionate being that he is. You can think of his character here as a mix of canon and original traits. True to how he is in the games, but more mature with life experience. That's the best way I can think of to describe him.
