Metalcore Amy

On Broken Wings was a metalcore band formed in 2001. There's a misconception that they were pioneers in the metalcore genre, but it had already been around for about a decade. The mix of extremity and melodic undertones was really what set them apart at the time. They released their first songs around the time Sonic Adventure 2 came out, which were followed up by their extended play "Number One Beautiful" in 2002. Heavy music from the early '00s really resonates with me because of how dark and brooding it was. Considering my history with mental health struggles, it's not hard to see why.
