Maria Playing DOOM (1997)

Maria's the main character of my novel, Dragon of Grace. The book starts from the deuteragonist Emily's point of view and switches to Maria's before they meet up. The party isn't fully formed until act two, so the first few chapters set up the world and story before really getting into the thick of it. Maria's a huge fan of extreme metal and an avid gamer early on. She doesn't play as much later, but does on occasion and still listens to metal regularly. It's an instrumental part of her healing throughout the story.
