Higurashi 2000 (Rika Furude)

Some of you might remember the main events of Higurashi took place during the '80s, specifically June of 1983. All the craziness happened a month before the famicom released in Japan, meaning Rika wasn't just traumatized watching the same loop repeat over and over. She was probably bored out of her mind. The writers really screwed her over in that department, so I threw her a bone and shifted the timeline a bit to the early 2000s. I figured some killer metal bands and epic story-driven games would help her stay sane once crap hit the fan. She was technically over a hundred years old by the end of the series. By then there was at least enough stuff out to fill a few of those years. With the internet at the height of its growth during that era, she mightve been able to confide in someone and look for outside help. It could've drastically altered the course of the series even without Hanyu's intervention.
