Warhammer month is not done yet! Here is Caminus! A Slaanesh Chaos Lord of a rather interesting faction of corrupt Emperor's Children. She prefers the pronoun 'she' though she is a true hermaphrodite thanks to one of her Chaos God's gifts. She was played on F-List but is on hiatus. However, if your into kinky role play, you can still go check it out!
You can view the naked, NOT family or work safe version on Tumblr and Hentai Foundry.
Hi there! Here comes a critique! Now remember, please don't hate on me for critiquing a piece, this is a critique. Not a sugarcoated compliment. Though I do have a lot to compliment about. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=" (Smile)"/> So..
Starting on vision! I give a 4 star on vision. Wow! That lineart is spot on. The lines aren't all one size, and they all look well connected. I like the pattern on the floor, it gives that eerie kind of feel. Looking at the piece, the coloring is very smooth, and so is the blending. I like the highlights on the piece, but something that interrupted that smoothness was the small or large spots of the dark pink/red, the color on the toes, ankle, thighs, shoulder, and abs. It's just my opinion, but I didn't like that tone, it just didn't blend in well enough.
I love the originality of this! I like the contrasting color of the hair and the color choices. (I'm not sure who this is...)
The technique gets a 4.5 stars! The lineart is smooth, and the coloring is amazing. Shadows were places very well, and I love that Earth outside the window. The pose is not awkward, and shows how relaxed she is. However, something that didn't really agree with me was the designs on the pillows; while I liked the designs on the floor, the pillows are a bit much. I would have liked a simple purple.
The impact of art is always important. In this piece, I see the casual way she is draped on the throne, and the commanding presence of her. The way she covers her eye with her hand seems like she is in a threatening stance, like, "You wanna mess with me?" Something that I would have liked to see in this piece would be a major highlight. Something BIG stands out.
Overall, this is a great piece of artwork. It's just my opinion about the changes, and would love to see some of you other art pieces. I'm going to watch and favourite, and I can't wait to see future art! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>
Yes, that very stupid overly pale skin of Caminus' is frustrating to get right. The warming tones I normally use on other skin tones just did not work well with her. And the shade I use for shadows made her skin even bluer then normal. I am quiet proud of my line art abilities but I am still working on getting my coloring technique down where I want it. Plus developing a proper color palette is difficult when you are slightly color bind - I see more in the red spectrum then most folks so warm tones look neon and eye bleeding to me some times and I tend to over saturate everything.
As to who this is, Caminus is an original character played by a friend of mine on F-List based on lore and fluff involving the Warhammer 40K sic-fi grim dark universe, the Chaos being Slaanesh and the history of the corrupted Space Marines, the Emperor's Children. You can read more about her here www.f-list.net/c/Caminus
I've had a lot of influence on the character design but Caminus is still mostly the result of her player's, my friend's, amazing creative juices. She has lots of great ideas and suggestions.
I will respectfully disagree about the pose. I find it stiff and awkward as hell but its what Caminus' player wanted and I did my best to make it look natural despite how uncomfortable sitting on a stone and metal throne like that really is. And I probably do over use that brocade pattern. The pillows really needed something to make them look like fabric, they looked to plastic without texture, but the brocade may not have been the right choice.
I am glad you liked this image so much though. I plan to someday revisit and/or rework it, but it is not bad for now being a year old and being the super rush job it was.
Anyway, I'm just loving this and the NSFW version (as all good followers of Slaanesh would). For anyone who's curious, the F-list page we want to be on is this one:
The F-List link in the artist's description goes to the main page and that has nothing relevant, oh no, not one bit.
Artwork like this is very reassuring. It shows me that no matter what GW does or doesn't do with Slaanesh, the character/ concept will live on in the hearts of talented artists and, if we're upfront about it, fan-artists are the only ones who can truly do Slaaneshi characters the justice they deserve.
