I am a scientist by way of training, and a Christian by way of faith and (so I hope) practice. In spite of lacking much natural talent in the area, I took up drawing for about 12 years. I posted my last drawing two years ago as I type.
I enjoyed drawing and the little bit of painting I tried, but I have decided that I will never do this again, "this" being what I did for twelve years. That does not mean that I will never try art again, nor even that I will never draw again. It just means that I will march to another beat if I ever do try it again, and hopefully a better one.
This year I celebrated my 50th birthday. What will the rest of my life be about? I am passionate about experiencing pleasure and gaining knowledge. But by now I have learned that gaining even the most profound knowledge, and experiencing even the most profound pleasure, are nothing in comparison to helping someone. (Which means a lot more than giving someone money, but we must be careful to remember that it also means no less than that.) And even that isn't worthy to compare with what God has prepared for his people in the world to come.
In the meantime, I will also continue to pursue music, as I have done all my life. I play flute, saxophone, and clarinet (in that order), and also have a lifelong interest in electronic music. In recent years, I've discovered that it's possible to make entirely synthesized orchestral and vocal music using Finale and Vocaloid respectively.
Please check out my group, which I still curate regularly, at #AnimeFanartChallenge:
Finally, I return llamas because, well, that's just the way things are done here at dA. Kind of like a secret handshake.
Thank you for stopping by!
