Say hello to my first real go at coloring in my lines. As with any time I try to jump up a level, there are pleasant surprises and shrugged-off aspects to improve later. The w00t-to-serviceable ratio is more than good enough for me to call it done. I may pull a Draw This Again sometime after doing more fabric studies.

I used two brushes - a boring old hard round with spacing at 1%, and a textured spatter inspired by this tutorial. The hair, skin, pale fabric, and metal layers are opaque. The rest are set to multiply to pick up some cohesion and subtle texture from the background.

9/19: Reuploaded a better quality image spruced up with textures. Texturizing is just a matter of goofing around with high enough resolution material photos and layer blending modes until you like the look. If needed, I add a solid layer with blending mode Color to recolor a texture before bringing it into the image.

Original line art, which I had to clean up somewhat after the fact.

A good source of fabric photos

Time: Minus breaks and gear-switching, it adds up to about a month of occasional poking to dedicated grumbling. A lot of that came from improving my painting technique from arrgggggghhh to reasonable.
