Alexander and Paul waited outside of the warehouse.
Knowing The Coachman was inside of the warehouse made Alexander nervous. A part of him wanted to attack the man for doing this to them. Another part was terrified that he’d find and capture them. Worse, he could even change them into something worse than being donkeys as punishment for defying him.
He didn’t like being outside alone. While Paul was there, Alexander’s fellow formally human donkey companion was equally as vulnerable to their current state.
Any passerby could see them as escaped donkeys. He doubted anyone that saw them as such would want to find their owners. Alexander knew they would probably be mean and take them for themselves. Now that they could only bray, they’d have no way of telling anyone the truth.
The truth however, could be irrelevant.
