Light And Dark

Light And Dark

I've recently finished two rather different paintings. :thumb255333339: :thumb265382837: One is The Raven King, a woodland themed image inspired by a character from Susanna Clarke's book Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. I haven't tried to be too faithful to the character as desribed in the book, it's more of an interpretation.  In fact I almost didn't name the image The Raven King because it's not really fan art (in my mind anyway) and I don't want fans of the book to see it as an attempt to accurately portray anything. I'm going to have a crack at oils or acrylics, not sure h

This took about a week to paint, which for me is lightning speed! I'm learning to loosen my style a bit more, though there's still lots of detail. The second piece I painted because this is always a very poignant time of year for me and I wanted to mark Armistice Day in my own way. This was all painted in about 4 hours yesterday. Pretty much a speedpaint by my
