[Ursa, Non, and Zod enter the town square via Phantom Zone portal. Scene plays out as normal with Zod making his public announcement]
“Hear me insects of this primitive world! I, Emperor Dru Zod of Krypton, allow you to live out of mercy. Fight or flee and you forfeit said mercy. This shall be a day for all to remember. As you bear witness to the fall of your meager civilization and the rise to the House of Zod!” Zod turned to his reigning lieutenants. “Non, seize control of any weapons or backwater technology this planet might have to offer.” Non nods and zips off; leaving only the deadliest member left: Ursa. “What shall you have me do oh great one?” “You, my dear, have the most important task at hand: round up as many bystanders or civilians you find. Any boon you find along the way is yours to keep. But do not fail me Ursa.” “I understand my lord.” Before she leaves, she turns to face Zod, “And what would you have me do with those who stand in my way?” “Show them that there is a penalty for resistance.” Ursa grins wickedly as she flies to complete her task.
[Rest of scene plays out as normal with Zod and his lieutenants whooping the rest of the super teens up until Kara arrives to confront them.]
“You’ve lost Kara Zor-El; for this world is mine!” “Over my dead body!” Kara snarls as she cracks her knuckles with anticipation. She then hurtles toward the tyrant at full speed only to be stopped abruptly by his be arranged.” With that, he decks her across the head and the two Kryptonians begin tearing at each other. They crash through abandoned buildings and collide with overpass bridges as if they were made of construction paper. Neither of them letting up even for a second! The fight becomes more heated as both enemies unleash the full extent of their powers!
After what feels like hours, Zod knocks Kara back down to earth. By now, Ursa and Non have returned and rejoin their commander; all three of them circle Kara like hungry buzzards. “Surrender Kara Zor-El, you cannot win.” Kara weakly rises from her crater. Her face riddled with bruises, cuts, and blood stains; but remains undeterred in her mission. “Maybe not in the conventional sense.” She says as she coughs up blood. “But then again…” Kara pauses impressively, “I’ve never been one for convention.” She then pulls out what appears to be a ray gun from behind her back and takes aim at the three villains. They stare at each other for a brief second before erupting in unabashed laughter. “Impudent child.” Ursa mocks, “Regular bullets/beams cannot harm us. I’m afraid your valiant effort was all for not.”
Kara smirks knowingly and points the ray gun up at the sky, firing it intently. A red rocket lights up the ominously gray sky, blanketing the surrounding area in a thick crimson aura. After a moment, all three Kryptonians suddenly drop to the ground. “What is this?!” Zod demanded. “A red solar flare.” Kara explained, “It’s supposed to emulate Krypton’s red sun, neutralizing all of your powers for three whole minutes.” “Foolish girl!” Barked Ursa, “By doing so, you’ve forfeited your powers as well.” “I don’t need my powers to handle whelps like you!” snapped Kara fiercely. “If that’s the case, how can you possibly hope to defeat us when you can barely stand on your own two feet?” “That’s the thing about tyrants like you Zod; you’ve become so single-minded to the point where you assume that there’s only one definitive means of obtaining power. When in reality, there are more ways than the mind can imagine.” “Such as?” ventured Ursa.
In response, Kara said nothing as she wound her eyes shut and extended her arm behind her. The three villains stare at each other then back at her. “Is this supposed to scare us?” asked Ursa. Kara continued her silence. “In that case, let’s finish this here and now.” But before she could enact her plan, Non points in the distance. Though their vision abilities are nullified, they can barely make out a small circular object hurdling towards them. “What on Krypton is that?” Zod could make out the symbol on the object before his eyes widen in realization. “It’s death.” He murmurs grimly. The object, in question, reveals itself to be none other than a red lantern ring! Kara had been busy focusing all her rage and aggression into summoning it from across the universe. “Kara Zor-El of Earth; you have great rage in your heart. You belong with the Red Lantern Corps.” It bellowed in its low menacing voice before slipping itself onto Kara’s finger. No sooner had it done so when an elongated beam of energy burst from the ring and forced itself into Kara’s mouth. The former Supergirl let out a deafening scream of pain and agony as the ring began to transform her!
Zod, Ursa, and Non shielded their eyes as Kara was engulfed by a blinding reddish-white light. Once it died down, Kara is revealed to be clad in her Red Daughter outfit; complete with the Red Lantern Corps insignia in place of her usual Supergirl ‘S’. As a result of the transformation, Kara’s breathing becomes labored and intense. She slowly lifts her head, bearing her clenched teeth, blood oozing from her mouth like she were a rabid dog. The villains stare in bewilderment for a minute or two until suddenly Kara opens her eyes. Both her pupils bloodshot and irises glowing as red as her outfit. She glares at them, saying not but a single word that was barely above a whisper, “Run.” All three Kryptonians try to flee from the scene, but the now christened Red Daughter had planned for this. First, she rocketed toward Non and flew right through his chest, leaving nothing but a gaping hole in her wake! The tall, burly Kryptonian collapses to his knees and falls over, dying instantly. “Chances of survival: Non-existent.” Red Daughter scoffs as she stands above his corpse, covered in blood and intestines.
She cracks her neck and sought out her next target, the dreaded man-killer herself: Ursa. The most brutal lieutenant of General Zod doesn’t flee. She instead stands her ground and readies herself for a fight. Red Daughter hovered above her. “Hey Ursa, there’s one power that humans have on earth that you don’t.” “What might that be?” Red Daughter doesn’t answer right away. Instead, she hurdled toward Ursa at an alarming rate. The depowered Kryptonian tries to make her escape; but as she does so, Red Daughter formed a construct with her ring in the shape of a chainsaw. She then slams it down, right onto Ursa’s shoulder blade and carves into her flesh! As the chainsaw buzzes, Ursa is violently bisected right down her torso! Blood and bone shards spray everywhere, but Red Daughter doesn’t stop there. She continues to plough the chainsaw construct further and further down Ursa’s body; slowly shredding her internal organs like they were strands of wet paper until at last, both halves of the feared man-killer plop unceremoniously to the ground. “Chainsaw sense.” Red Daughter quips darkly once her construct vanishes.
The rage-fueled Kryptonian set her sights towards the former general of her home world. “Guess all that’s left is to finish you off.” Red Daughter snarls. Like Ursa, Zod stands his ground and readies himself for combat. Before any punches are thrown, he looks Kara dead in the eye and says, “You can try; but you’ll find I’m not so easy.” Kara smiles wickedly as napalm blood oozes from her teeth, “Oh I’m counting on it.” The former general takes a run at Kara, determined to finally end the house of El once and all. Red Daughter merely floats in the air, strategizing her next move. She then rockets towards Zod and proceeds to land blow after blow on him. All the while, Zod only lands a couple of punches on her; seemingly knocking her back. Seeing his enemy weaken, Zod continues to lay into Kara; not letting up for a second.
While the two remaining Kryptonians are slugging it out, a few of Kara’s friends start to wake up. “W-What’s going on?” asked Bumblebee. “And why is everything in red?” Zatanna asks. “It’s the result of a red solar flare I kinda borrowed from B-Man.” Barbara explains meekly. “Okay I get that but…” He stops mid-sentence. “What is it Oliver?” asked Zatanna. Oliver says no-more as he points to the bloody corpses of Non and the bisected halves of Ursa. Bumblebee gasps in horror as do the rest of the team. Barbara races over to a nearby trashcan and pukes her guts at the sight of mass carnage. Diana turns her head, understanding full well the fatalities of combat. “Wait where’s Kara?” asked Garth, worried about his friend. “Hey, I see her.” Flash calls out and points to over to the two Kryptonians duking it out. “Hey, when did she get a costume change?” Flash asked, referring to Kara’s Red Daughter ensemble. “I’ve never known Kara to wear red before.” Barbara remarks. “I have to admit, she makes that color work.” Zatanna observes. “Something’s wrong.” Garth comments, “Kara has never been known to throw a fight before unless…”
It was Kara’s plan from the very start: to lull the tyrannical dictator into a false sense of security long enough to let his guard down for her to finish him off. Red Daughter’s eyes flew open and a sinister smirk spread across her face. Zod, though taken aback, never let up his punches. But as he tried to land another, the rage-fueled Kryptonian caught his fist mid-punch. “My turn.” Kara growled as she sucker punched him across the battlefield. Zod stared up at the House of El survivor; he was battered, bruised, and starting to show signs of exhaustion. But Kara merely floated about him, mocking him without uttering a single word. “What are you going to do? Have your impish friends send me back to the Phantom Zone alone?” “Oh, you’re not going back.” Kara responded. “Then where…” Then it hit Zod as well as the other heroes; Kara wasn’t planning on sending him back. Before he knew it, Kara charged at the general; placing him in a chokehold. Zod noticed that the red solar flare was starting to wear off. “Give up Kara Zor-El, even in defeat, I still claim victory over this dominion.” Unbeknownst to him however, Kara had already known about the receding flare and decided to humor him one last time. “Oh yeah, how so?” “Your cousin didn’t have the strength of character to do what needed to be done. What makes you think you can?” “Because I’m not my cousin nor will I ever be.” “That remains self-evident.” Scoffed Zod with baited breaths. “Oh and one more thing Zod.” “What?”
Suddenly, with an ear-deafening SNAP, Kara broke Zod’s neck. It sent shockwaves careening through the entire town, nearly knocking our heroes off their feet. The sound echoed everywhere! When the dust settled, it was already over. “Kneel before yourself.” Red Daughter scoffed before hacking a loogie onto her enemy’s fallen corpse. At long last, the House of El survivor’s vendetta had been slaked. All the heroes, even the Green Lanterns who were holding the portal to the Phantom Zone open, stared in absolute shock at what their friend/teammate had just done. They looked over at Kara who was still breathing heavily. The Superhero Girls and the Invinci-bros readied themselves in case Kara was about to go rogue. But much to their bewilderment, Kara slowly held up her ring hand and removed it without hesitation. As soon as Kara did so, she let a blood-curdling scream of pain as her Red Daughter outfit dissolved into her normal Supergirl ensemble. Kara placed the ring into any available pockets she might have and slowly trudged toward her friends. No-one said a word. Instead, they hesitantly stepped away, letting Kara walk past.
Garth looked on, deeply concerned for his closest friend. Zatanna noticed this and encouraged him not to follow her. “She just needs time to process all this.” “For right now, we must clear away this mess and free any of Zod’s prisoners.” Diana proclaimed. So the Superhero Girls and Invinci-bros set to work at once. Multiple ambulances arrived to ferry anyone hurt from this travesty away to safety. A coroner van arrived to take the bodies of the fallen Kryptonians away. Everyone watched as one of the coroners slowly zipped up a body bag containing Zod’s lifeless body. Some of them were disgusted by this, despite probably learning about this sort of thing in school. Others could hardly comprehend that Kara, known for being grouchy yet caring, was truly capable of vicious cold-blooded murder. But one thing was certain: angry or not, Kara Zor-El was definitely a force of nature.
