<spiel>This was a defining moment for Michael, in terms of solidifying his character to me. It's not that I don't know what Mike is like, but for me, I can never 100% predict how a character will turn out until I actually put them onto paper and have them go through certain scenes. Nemi, for example, is not quite like how I imagined her to be - she just writes herself most of the time. Kylie and Cain as well tend to interact differently than expected, and I usually have to rewrite entire scenes when I realise the original script won't work.

In the bottom-left panel here, Michael was supposed to have dialogue - you know, snappy one-liners that people tend to say, like 'I don't think so' or 'What do you think you're doing?' etc. But somehow, when I put the dialogue in, I just felt like Michael hated that. ¬_¬ I took it out, observed the silent effect he had, and realised that is who Michael is. He doesn't talk that much, and he says more without words than with. Realising this made me get a much better feel for his character, and as a result I think this page gives him more impact than I originally intended. </spiel>
