Hello there! My name is Emma, and I choose DeviantArt after years of admiring other’s artwork. My artistic journey began with me, as a little girl, printing off pictures of cartoon characters and tracing over them using blank pieces of paper. I have always loved art thanks to watching cartoons and animated films for a major portion of my childhood, but I did not actually get into drawing until one fateful day, where I rented out all of the ‘How to Draw Manga’ books in my school library. Later, I had my caricature done at an amusement park and I decided to purchase the artist's ‘How to Draw Caricatures’ book. And the rest, as they say, is history!

I am a woman in my twenties who is a Biology graduate attempting to carve out a career in horticulture or conservation. Art is primarily a method of expression and therapy, but since I am enjoy drawing others' characters, I am thinking about opening commissions as a side venture in the future. My focus is primarily on cartoons and geeky fanart, but I can occasionally venture into abstract or naturalistic art. Otherwise, I like to write out analyses and critiques of different anime I watch as a hobby.

If you like/love Pokemon, you can check out my other DA account "PokeRouge" too!

You will find that I have varied interests; both sweet/light and twisted/dark. Hopefully, you can find at least one thing about my art that you can enjoy!

I am not the type of person to frequently recommend books to others (regardless of my relationship to them), but in celebration of Earth Day, I recommend the following book that I received as a gift from my parents AND that I just recently finished: Hope Matters: Why Changing the Way We Think Is Critical to Solving the Environmental Crisis - Elin Kelsey https://greystonebooks.com/products/hope-matters For anyone like me, who is VERY concerned about environmental problems and climate change, I hope you find this informative and inspiring. :aww: I appreciate how the content was written about and discussed in length from all different problems, solutions, and angles because it is far too easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer complexity and 'doom and gloom' that can come from good intentions of wanting to become and do better AND more for sustainability purposes. :earth:

RubyRouge's Anime Archive: A Whisker Away

0 min read
'A Whisker Away’ is a random NetFlix anime movie that I decided to take a chance on because of it looking like it centred around animal themes. :) As a side note, I found out that the director of this film was actively involved in projects like ‘Neon Genesis Evangelion’, ‘Precure’, ‘Sailor Moon’, and other works in the ‘magical girl’ genre! ART/MUSIC This movie had a very crisp and clean animation quality, which suited the beautiful backgrounds very nicely. I particularly liked the lighting capabilities that were used to blend the degrees of fantasy and reality, especially for the supernatural transformations and the blurred perspective of Miyo. :D The camera work was very smooth in capturing a variety of different angles to make the scenes more interesting during the course of Miyo’s journey. I did find the OST background to have some charm to it in contrasting any moments of powerful emotion with moments of silence or whimsical eeriness (given the nature of the 'swapping' that
