A couple of years ago I encountered the concept of nonduality. More like, it was kind of thrust upon me. From the very first touch it made my hair bristle, and after reading on it some more I feel considerably more on edge. Today, I am going to try to explain why, what merits I see and what dangers.
Disclaimer: Everything I lay out here is how I understand what I have read on the subject of nonduality. I'm analyzing in the context of my own views, obviously, but I have tried my best to actually understand their concept of existence. Nonduality is a rather weaselly philosophy in my opinion, it lacks definition, employs very vague terms as well as the idea that you will only truly understand once you experience it. I have no doubt its proponents can wiggle out of my criticism. This is my opinion, take it for what it is.
