Karin Heuffel

My dear friend Karin is truly extraordinary - so incredible that everyone who meets her quickly realizes that "impossible" is just a word. But to conquer the impossible, you need courage, perseverance, and the relentless drive to chase your dreams. Karin embodies all of this. She is the perfect example of resilience, determination, and forging your own destiny with your own hands.
She battles multiple sclerosis, a formidable disease. At one point, it advanced so far that she was confined to her bed - but she fought back. Not only did she recover, but she emerged even stronger. When you meet her, you might not see the struggles she faces, but you will undoubtedly feel her unshakable spirit and radiant soul. She is a beacon of hope, an inspiration, and to me, a true symbol of life itself.

Here she is, on May 5, 2021, carrying the Olympic flame across Slovenia as a Paralympic athlete - a testament to her strength and determination. 💫

Her achivments:
-The first woman in Slovenia to start competitive underwater breath-hold swimming (100m dynamic).

-3-time national champion in the 50m freestyle (Paralympic Committee of Slovenia) – 2013, 2018, and 2021.

-5-time champion in the 50m freestyle (Open Paralympic Championships) – 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022.

-3-time champion in the 25m freestyle (Open Paralympic Championships) – 2014, 2015, and 2019.

-3-time silver medalist in the 25m freestyle (Open Paralympic Championships) – 2016, 2017, and 2022.

2nd place in the 50m freestyle (Open Paralympic Championships) – 2016.
- 1st place in the relay at the European Championship MerLYMPICS, England 2018.

- 2nd place in underwater dance and aesthetics at the European Championship MerLYMPICS, England – 2018.

- Olympic torchbearer in 2021 and 2024.
