Hello everyone!
Firstly I apologise for the low activity, I'm posting this update bulletin for now and usual updates will resume on the 15th.

The definitions for each genre have been rewritten to help create more clarity and help you work out where your group belongs. We are also adding a new genre, Feral/Creature. I will be sorting through the groups currently Other and checking to see if they should be moved but all other groups will remain where they are. If you feel your group should move genres, please feel free to send an update via the update form.
EDIT: After sorting through the Other genre, I've found that the majority of groups were inactive. I've decided to go through each journal and do a curory activity/genre check. If you feel that your group has been wrongly removed you are free to resubmit, however if there has been activity in the past 6 months it should be fine. I've also renamed Modern Day to Realistic to better represent the genre.

Without further ado, here are the new genre outlines.

Worlds where magic and magical creatures are somewhat common place. Either everyone in the world has heard of magic or the magical world is separate from society. Both high, low, and urban fantasy groups are welcome here.
Similar to the fantasy genre, but magic and creatures remain unknown to the world. The truth of this supernatural world often has to remain a secret to the human population.
Sci Fi
Worlds that feature space, aliens, robots or other futuristic technology belong here. Dystopian and post-apocalyptic worlds will often fall here.
Worlds that are like our own and slice of life stories. They can be contemporary or period but not futuristic. There should be no magic or heavy use of sci fi.
Groups that feature a cast of sentient animals that retain their animalistic behaviour. 'Furry'/anthro/gijinka groups do not belong here. In short, if your cats can drink coffee out of mugs while sitting at desks, they shouldn't be in this genre.
Any school based settings, regardless of genre belong here.
Fan Group
If your group is based off or inspired by an existing piece of media it belongs here. This category supersedes all others.
Your group does not fall under any other category. Multi-universe/world groups that have no dominant genre are also welcome here.

As always Fan Group and Academy take precidence over other genres and Feral/Creature will too. If your group falls into multiple genres please check the following;
Fan Group > Academy > Feral > Primary Genre
Incorrectly place groups will be moved without notice, if your submission has multiple errors it will be declined without notice. Read over the rules carefully before submitting, if you are unsure of anything you are welcome to ask questions via Notes. Or if you have any questions or suggestions about these new changes share them in the comments below.

Thank you for your continued support! It means so much to see this group still thriving after all these years and we wouldn't be here if not for all of you.

Which genre would "people with special powers" (not magic- or science-based and in a more-or-less realistic setting where the power is not widely known) go under? I thought maybe supernatural, but that talks about secret worlds separate from the human one. So, would it be counted as low fantasy? Or should it just be under Other?

Other is used more for mixed genres.. Probably supernatural if the power is 'mundane' but not widespread? But Fantasy or SciFi could both be valid if that's what you felt worked best.
edit: oh haha i didn't see Sage also replied. He is right too : ) And the group is Dreamweavers right? I think fantasy suits it fine

Yup, it's Dream Weavers. ^^ Thanks for your help!

Low fantasy can also go under fantasy, tbh it's probably fantasy.

hi I am interested in submitting a group but it is on the side of horror, would this still fall more under supernatural?  I assume so (eyes the show) LMAO

Yes, it would most likely fall under supernatural : ) assuming it is not a fan group or an academy/school based setting

You know; It'd expect a primary genre to take president over a sub genre... Hence the name.

Fan groups and academy groups all have genres of their own but we want to separate them from the bulk. If they went into their primary genre first those folders would be empty. This is how we've been doing it for years it just hasn't been written out like this : )
