Movement XVIII Requiem for a dream Soprano/ Baritone/ Tenor/ mixed chorus Andante (chorus {P} ) Behold a fallen world, a dream deceased A dream now laid to rest as I now rise From dying every night, a painless death And rising every day to dream again (solo Soprano) Revived the nightmare of reality From a world of dreams lost to tragedy By the fire of the prophet with blind eyes The priestess sang of pending future days (solo Baritone) Behind the curtain of disheveled hair Closed eyes twitch to the madness of the moon A drifting body most ephemeral Cast in blue light, tides and time ebb and flow (solo Tenor) Where I conceived thoughts and miscarried dreams A fallen dream lost, for I fell asleep Aborted thoughts in the womb of my mind   A dead dream carried into the next world   (Tutti /chorus {MF} ) Behold a requiem for a dead dream From everything rethought is here reborn Behold a requiem for my own self From nothing I created everything   (chorus / Soprano {F} ) Familiar places
