Race:
Chasing Storms Sprint (GI) | F | (2) | 6.5F | Dirt | Del Mar Racecourse | Del Mar, CA, USA | $450,000
It would be an interesting day, to say the least. Two fillies, both with similar lineages. In fact, it was an aunt and niece running together. They had started Davy once and she had proven to be a bit dull in her running style, unable to hold up with the competition. Though it was hardly fair to compare her to her brother, Stones, who was a well proven race horse and tended to take the tracks by storm. It was like comparing apple and oranges. The other filly they had brought along with one named Coy Crystulls. She had recently finished her training and they were now putting her to the test. She had proven race horse in her dam's side, but the stud was a bit questionable. WWC Rock Legend hadn't raced well and it made them hesitant to breed him for racehorses. However, there was another sibling to Coy who seemed just as promising.
The fillies both were easy to handle, which was a big relief to the crew after putting up with Stones' wicked ways. The fillies were tacked and then mounted and led out to the track. There, Davy was relaxed and at ease. However, Coy, never having being out, bounced nervously at the noise and the crowd, her eyes rolling a bit. Though, the man riding the lead pony held on with little difficulty despite her crashing into the other horse time and time again. He did almost seem relieved to get to the starting gate and handed the troublesome filly over to someone to be loaded in the gate. Even back at home, Coy had struggle loading. She had to be pulled in with two arms linked around her hindquarters. Once in, she threatened to rear until Davy was loaded beside her. Davy had always been easy to put in the gate, the filly watching eagerly for the gate to open.
Once the bell rang and the gate opened, they both surged forward, though Coy faltered a bit before catching her stride and went off with the pack, easily regaining herself.
