Sinomegaceros yabei by RomanYevseyev Sinomegaceros yabei by RomanYevseyev
Late Pleistocene of Japan. Sinomegaceros yabei went to a forest glade. In the background grazing a small Japanese island elephants Palaeoloxodon naumanni.
Sinomegaceros yabei was almost as big as the Megaloceros giganteus, but had a smaller horns, laid back. This is probably due to the fact that S. yabei lived in the forests, in contrast to other Megacerini, who preferred to keep the open areas. This deer in comparison with the western relatives had a longer metatarsals.
