Painting the Sky Red by romanshoubu Painting the Sky Red by romanshoubu
Featuring characters from my original comic.

Here you can see the original pencils and then my inked and colored version. In this case I think the pencils are much more expressive. The translation from pencil to inks is always very difficult for me- most of the time I end up ruining my pencils- so I tend to use a light table to ink so that I still have my original to work from since I always mess up. It's only recently that this has started to become a little more natural.

Anyway, except for the hair colors, none of the colors here are the usual ones. I just like to play around with the coloring. I really want to redraw Jirou's uniform. ORZ Maybe I will use this image for the website when I get around to changing the design... hmm...!

You can now read the online version of OSCP at Smackjeeves.

Thanks for your input! It's so hard to transfer the same kind of emotion from pencil to inks. Inking well is really hard, and I'm still learning and experimenting with different methods and tools. I might consider colouring the pencil version like you had suggested sometime. :D

Spot on. I love the interior color of Vivien's coat.

I do feel like your pencils and inks are two totally different animals. Each one of them brings out a different quality of the drawing. I can't say that I like one over the other, but I like that you light table to preserve both (then I don't have to choose!)

Thank you for your comment! It's an alternative coloring presented here- but I think if I ever got around to coloring her usual jacket, the lining would be some psychedelic colors or something. :D

Yeah- I think I have the same feeling about my pencils and inks too. I'm glad to have my original pencils intact. There is something nice and warm about them for me...
