I shall utter a small explanation here.  To me, Bokor resembles one of the many epitomes of human mass atrocities.  Many societies in history produced incredibly terrible humanitarian catastrophies, like Mao Tse Tung, Stalin, Hitler,  or like in this country of Cambodia, the Khmer Rouge.  To me, the child resembles hope, because he's loooking outward, to the light. He's looking forward, not turning back into the dark.  Nothing else.  Hope is a powerful force. No hope, no future...  but not with him.

It was definitely conceptual, because I watched him and anticipated this capture!  Sometime we're lucky.  Because we hope :-)
