The MiG Alley

"MiG Alley" is the name given by United Nations (UN) pilots to the northwestern portion of North Korea, where the Yalu River empties into the Yellow Sea. During the Korean War, it was the site of numerous dogfights between UN fighter pilots and their opponents from North Korean (including some unofficially crewed by Soviet airmen) and the Peoples Republic of China.

Soviet-built Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 were the aircraft used during most of the conflict and the area's nickname was derived from them. Because it was the site of the first large-scale jet-vs-jet air battles, with the North American F-86 Sabre, the MiG Alley is considered the birthplace of jet fighter combat.

Beyond awesome!
Convincing metal skin on Sabre.
Please do a redo and add tracer rounds with spent shells cascading from the Sabre's forward fuselage!
Happy February!

You could draw the Taiwan vs China F86 vs Mig 15 dogfights from 1958.

This was the first time Sidewinder missiles where used and the F86's kicked butt !
Very good work, but the Sabre had no afterburner, thus no flames coming out of the back.

Incredibly well done. Looks like a scene outta "The Hunters". Before everybody gets too impressed with Soviet tech, keep in mind that it had a BRITISH engine in it that they had copied; the Brit govt had sold them one. That's all they needed. They weren't doing too well with the German engines they copied in their La-15. A great painting regardless.

NICE!  My father worked on the radar gunsights during Korea.  Said he was done when he had the 50's rounds dailed in to glance off each other at 100 yards...............

F-86's proved the superiority of the German axial-flow jet engine design (used by the Me262) over the British centrifugal-flow design used in the MiG-15. Very nicely done. Had to fave this as well. :)
