"Guardian Angel" was one of the names the pby catalina Had back in WW2 ,it was the only plane ready to dive to hell to resque downed pilots from the enemy lines.

I am very proud of this picture everything is 3D with only minor  corrections to photoshop..the ocean/wakes are simulated to realflow and then exported to cinema4d vimeo.com/31423260
it took like forever to render  but it worth the time.

Hope you like it

looks great and now in my favs.

There's a white PBY that does the show circuit here in the UK and yes I got to see it cruise over where I worked a few years ago, looked up and there she was heading towards the south-east at a pace that showed the pilot had no particular place to be nor was he in any hurry to get there and the sound from those twin 14 cylinder radials which were just cracked open was just gorgeous!

Awesome job. One of the first 1/72 scale aircraft I ever built was a Cat, really love them.

Well, this time I really took it for a photo, without having a doubt.

Nearly invisible propellers, wires, the water... Ok, now that I know it, the sea spray might look different in a photo, more like a boat's trail...

But still, there's nothing that would have made me become suspicious.

Incredible. Looks like I have to drop the claim that I can tell renders from photos now. Congrats! :)

This image is spectacular and has made my day. My Father was crew chief and waist gunner on a PBY-5A during WWII in the ETO. The plane had U.S.A.A.C. markings, but was Canadian built, and so wore the same white and gray livery as RAF Coastal Command "Cats". My Father paid a fellow G.I. two bottles of scotch whiskey, to paint a nose art on the plane of a reclining Vargas girl, and so the Catalina became the "Miss Pick-Up". My Father's crew worked wit an RAF Fast Rescue Boat in the Channel, North Sea and Atlantic. They rescued flyers from both sides of the conflict. I really admire your ability to work this kind of art, as it is well beyond me. I consider this a tribute to all the men who served "...that others might live". Thank You Very Kindly. Best of Luck in your future endeavors.

Cats are truly amazing birds! Also, in Birds of Steel, there's a funny glitch: When the Cat gets its tail shot off, it starts doing loops.

I built a couple of plastic models of the PBY when I was a kid. This looks wonderful and I don't think I ever saw one with the front turret. Very cool

I love it of course. Cat is one of my favorite planes because it's so odd. I know how hard wakes and crests are so a hearty "well done!"
