Brightburn

<da:embed id="oD1vbhicJUY" profile="youtube" width="560" height="315">

Because Superman is so OP (over powered) I have always felt that he would make a better villain than hero.

The new movie Brightburn, directed by James Gunn, explores this concept with great effect.

It's about a childless couple who find an infant boy after a craft-like meteor crashes on their farm.

Being unable to have children of their own they decide to keep the baby and raise him as their own.

For the next 12 years everything is wonderful until the craft starts to emit a strange signal that active strange powers in the now preteen boy....and he goes full on sociopath!

This movie combines two genres I didn’t even know I wanted to see together, the horror and superhero genres. It is scary, atmospheric, and visceral. Brightburn is a pretty hard 'R' so they don't shy away from showing what might happen if a Superman like being ever went psycho.

MOCC 2

So the MOCC has been over for a while now and no one has contacted me regarding the prints.

And while I did promised to make copies for all participants I felt the lack of interest meant nobody really cared.

But I have heard from ONE person, and so I going to keep my word and go a head and provide the formatting specs.

***************ATTENTION CONTESTANTS!******************

Contestants, Please read the very important info I posted below regarding the book printing!

1- Pages must be in 7 X 10.5 standard comic book size with a 1/4 inch boarder all around.

Brightburn looks interesting,
Superman as Psycho does make some sense. But Superman as outlined by Bill in "Kill Bill" i think is much more compelling. And frankly plays into the "superior" man/race idea of the time. But the "power corrupts" idea is something that the traditional Superman myth doesn't explore much. But it seems to me Superman stands more on the historical Messiah archetype. (like many aspects of most superheroes... heroes in general).

But this Brightburn concept reminds me of Dragonball. Maybe the kid needs a knock in the head to straiten him out.
And also have you read the comic "Invincible"? The Superman trope is worked with there in a fun way... not horror but,  pretty strait but often harsh super heroics. Very cool series.

but yeah.. seems like it might be cool.
