Description
This is something I've had in my head for what must have been years now, and recently decided to translate it to paper. As you can tell, this is a picture of box art for the Dead Space game we may never get now, Dead Space 4.
You may have looked at this and wondered to yourself "Where's Isaac Clarke, and who's this lady?" Now, before you all jump down my throat with accusations of SJW agenda, let me set the record straight. I've had the thought to do this for quite a while. And as for why it's a woman on the cover instead of Isaac Clarke, tell, allow me to explain.
The story of Dead Space 4 goes like this. It's set after the end of the Dead Space 3 DLC chapter "Dead Space: Awakened". Spoiler Alert if you haven't played it yet, but want to.
At the end of Dead Space 3: Awakened, The Brethren Moons, the true villains of the Dead Space series, have reached Earth and are now in the process of attacking the planet. What's more, Isaac and John have been attacked and are now incapacitated. It seems as if all hope is lost.
But no, it isn't.
For you see, at this point, humanity's sole hope has now come into the picture. This sole hope is someone who has played a central role in the games "Dead Space: Extraction", and "Dead Space 2: Severed". That person is Lexine Murdoch, a woman with a unique ability that makes her the one being in the whole universe that the Brethren Moons fear. For you see, Lexine Murdoch is completely immune to the effect of the markers, and is able to make anyone in close proximity to her immune as well. Some time after she was ejected from the Sprawl in Dead Space 2, Lexine discovers that all the Brethren Moons are converging on the Earth, and the various space colonies humanity also occupies. At some point in the game, Lexine realizes that her immunity to the markers also makes her immune to the Brethren Moons' powers as well. From there, Lexine comes to the conclusion that she is the only one in the universe who can stop the Brethren Moons before they devour all of humanity. So, Lexine decides to set out and save humanity from becoming the final meal of the Brethren Moons.
Will Isaac Clarke and John Carver be in the game? Should they be the protagonists, with Lexine Murdoch being the character they have to protect and stay close to to not be driven insane by the Brethren Moons? I don't really know, this was just an idea I had. But one thing's for sure, I thought that Lexine should become a main character in this game because her immunity to the Markers would be something that would likely be a valuable asset in a universe inhabited by moon-sized necromorphs with psychic powers. Also, I would suggest that if you haven't played Dead Space Extraction, or Dead Space 2: Severed, please do so. I did.
When drawing this picture, my initial thought was to make the letters black, as I thought that was what colours they were supposed to be. Now I realize, though, they could've easily been the colour I made the number four in this picture. Heck, I had the thought I could've made them golden. But I guess I'll have to go with these colours.
Well, anyway, hope you like it. Be sure to comment (please do).
(update: I saw that I forgot to colour in the plasma cutter. So I rectified that oversight.)
