You're not a hypocrite!  It totally makes sense what you're saying.  The Internet is an unnerving place, and its ubiquity has made the world an unnerving place.  I've had to take steps to separate my online identities and "real" business identity.  I've also got a thousand cringeworthy comics and fanfics out there, so I know that fear.

You are very brave to keep going.  I guess, in a way, if anything happens, it'd be a sign that you've made it to the big time.  Everyone cares about what celebrities are doing while "normal" people are generally left alone.  Regardless of what happens, I wish you success and more importantly safety all the way through.  Best of luck for your future career.

That's the downside of the information age, that information follows us. It's like that cousin or person in school who ate a bug when they were 5 and there'll always be someplace in the back of your mind that remembers that even decades later.

I think you had the right to your "tantrums", especially since you were providing a free service to assist the artistic community, and people were taking advantage of that "free reference" to make a profit off what you were doing. If I remember right, didn't someone turn your work into a billboard in another country at one point? It's just great that you're much more positive and happy.

When whatever game they had you mo-cap for comes out, you'll have to say something!

Well of course you're more than entitled to change your stance on things we all do that  :)  ... but, my personal opinion, although I think it's really cool that you're trying to (my take  on it anyways) rise above the petty stuff.. and that's good, that's really good  :) ... I still think the "internet rage" posts, to quote you, and the whole "raising an army" thing. to quote you again.. they still raised some really good points!

You spoke out about women's issues in areas of interest to a lot of us .. "geek-dom" basically :P  , comics for one.. and I see nothing wrong about that!   You're entitled to your opinion and.. look at it this way, yes there were a lot of people here on DA who attacked you in writing (typing?) ...  and got WAY too personal about it I think ..... when you raised these points... but if there weren't a lot of people who didn't agree with you then they wouldn't have  bothered to publicly post that they agreed with you on your threads   :)  ... And if you go back and look at your topics you'll see there was a LOT of support for various issues you took a stance on! :)    You made us aware of things we didn't know about before and, whether the persons who read your topic-threads agreed with you or not, you raised  public consciousness... I don't see that as a bad thing!  :)  ... For what my humble opinion is worth give yourself at least a little bit of a break in that regard :)  ..

And yes like the others say great to see you around again and hear from you :) ..

It's good to see you around here again!

Those are some difficult (and very modern) questions to have to wrangle with. I hope it all works out for the best. Either way I'm sure I speak for all your fellow stock providers as well when I say that if you need an understanding ear, we'll happily listen.

Best of luck with your acting career!

I'm not sure how I'd react in that situation... I mean that company was in clear violation of your rules but you could use your "internet fame" to your advantage I think. Just the cool fact that you took those pictures probably made you more memorable to them.

I do get the whole internet stock freakout part though...
I have a somewhat successful stock account and in the past people have "stolen" my work for book covers (three of them were best-sellers), ads, websites etc, even though i have such clear rules that are posted pretty much everywhere on my page (just like you). It is frustrating to say the least. Lots of people have gotten angry at me for not allowing them to use my work commercially for free, some even resorted to name-calling etc. The internet can be such a hostile environment and I totally get that you used to react not so kindly to violations of your rules and/or your trust. I'm sure it won't come back to bite you in your backside though.

Aww, that sucks. :( I hate when people do that.  THAT is hypocritical, to want art for free.  If it's worth nothing, then do without it.  If it's worth something to you, then pay the artist.  Ugh, I'm sorry that happened to you.

Thank you so much and you put it perfectly! I might use your "If it's worth nothing, then do without it" line in the futute when dealing with those kind of people. Thanks!!

Love your carved pumpkins btw! Gonna try and follow your tutorial on Halloween (i really really suck at carving pumpkins so it's a good place to start I think).

Wow, I'm glad to see you're thinking so positively about things and that life seems to be going well for you! To be honest, I'd still be pissed off about people stealing images, especially the ones involving my face but I guess the important thing is that you're dealing with it in a way that is healthy for you. Go you!

I'd be uncomfortable if my pictures were everywhere (as most of us would feel, especially that it's been taken without consent), but I don't think I would've handled it like you do. The internet is a scary place but you were brave enough take it on. But another thing that I admire about you is your willingness to grown from it all. We have to let it go sometimes. Keep your head high, Robyn. And I wish you all the best in your career. :)
