Description
I liked the Steampunk aesthetic before I knew what it was called. Was excited to learn it was a "thing." Then disappointed when it became a thing everyone else was into.
When I originally conceived my science fiction comic universe, I wrote that it was an homage to classic science fiction… full of nods to Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Buck Rogers, and especially Flash Gordon (the 1980 film is still one of my all time favorites). I called it Sci-Fi noir when I first started doing it. Wanted to bring the grit of Firefly, the physicality of Yamato, and the future retro vibe of Flash. I wanted to mix steampunk retro sci fi with elements of sword and sorcery. The early issues really didn't pull off my vision, if I must be honest.
About two years into the run, I created these guys as an alternate story line. This won the Steampunk Challenge at DreamslayerArtworks in 2012 and later appeared as a "cover" for my webcomic.

This is tremendous work Robert. I love the lighting and feel of the old timey vignette with the steampunk aesthetic. I look forward to catching more of your creations.
