Power Rangers has been around for 25 years and continues to grow. I was finally able to watch the 25th anniversary episode of Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel on Watch Cartoon Online and I enjoyed it. I was hoping it would make up for the last anniversary episode from Power Rangers Super Megaforce which was a huge letdown. It also came out August 28th, the day Mighty Morphin Power Rangers debuted on Fox Kids.
Overall, I thought the storyline was decent, though it was a little more like a "sequel" to Shattered Grid since the new villain, Lord Drayvon, captured 7 Rangers and create a Ranger army and rule all dimensions similar to what Lord Drakkon had planned and it's up to the Ninja Steel Rangers and the 10 Rangers from different seasons to stop him. I also thought the Ninja Steel cast did a pretty great job with their performances same goes to the past Rangers though I wish they got a little more screen time and dialogue.
I was happy my favorite Rangers: Tommy, Wes, Trent, Gemma and Koda were in the episode since Mighty Morphin, Time Force, Dino Thunder, RPM, and Dino Charge are my favorite seasons. They even confirmed that both RPM and Dino Charge are set in separate alternate dimensions away from the main PR timeline as many fans were worried about the Dino Super Charge finale messing up the timeline. Of course, they also brought back Rocky as Mighty Morphin Red, Katherine as Turbo Pink, TJ as the Blue Space Ranger, Antonio as the Gold Samurai Ranger and Gia the Yellow Megaforce Ranger.
I was so shocked and surprised that Tommy had a special morpher called the Master Morpher, which allows him to morph into the Rangers he became such as the Mighty Morphin Green and White Ranger, Red Zeo and Dino Thunder Black. I was at the edge of my seat when he was battling the evil Tommy robot. He was also able to summon the Falcon Zord from MMPR season 3 which was destroyed but somehow returned.
I would have liked to see TJ as both the Red Turbo Ranger (which Tommy became briefly for a short time) and Blue Space Ranger like Andre of Black Nerd Comedy said in his review of the episode. Check out his review.
Though a part of me would have wanted to see Jason back as Mighty Morphin Red Ranger, it was cool they got Rocky back as we hadn't seen him in a long time since he, along with Katherine, made their last appearances in Power Rangers Turbo back in 1997 (though they did appeared morphed as the Blue and Pink Zeo Rangers respectively in the Legendary Battle) and because the Mighty Morphin Red Ranger is the mascot of the franchise, they needed that in the episode. I guess maybe they contacted Austin St. John about appearing in the episode and he probably declined or got busy as the time and was unable to participate. Maybe we'll hear it from him sometime. I also would have wanted Katherine back as the Pink Zeo Ranger since she passed her Turbo powers to Cassie Chan. I was relieved that Gemma from RPM was able to de-morph, unlike her teammate Scott, RPM Ranger Operator Series Red (since they couldn't get Eka Darville to reprise his role in the Power Rangers Samurai movie, Clash of the Red Rangers, which I did not like and, in my opinion, is non-canon, and he had to voice him).
Aside of all that, the episode was really good though I wished it could have been a bit longer like a TV movie. They say that there may be an extended cut, so maybe we might get more scenes that we didn't get to see. But if there was, then maybe it would have been more amazing than ever. But out of all the anniversary specials, Forever Red will always be a favorite of mine.
