This is a 'companion' piece to my drawing of Darth Vader meeting an Alien queen. Perhaps this battle is what happened on board Vader's Star Destroyer immediately before he turned up to restore order!?
I wanted this piece to look claustrophobic and chaotic - to give a sense of the mayhem that's taking place - without resorting to drawing blood and guts everywhere! So I only depicted the characters in the picture... no background... no scenery.
I didn't want this to be one of those pieces where the center of the page is full detail while the edges are blurry or lacking in detail. There's nothing wrong with that approach - in fact it's the 'right' way to compose a piece that directs the viewer's eye. But for this one - I just wanted the page to be full - so that wherever you look - there's something happening.
My other Star Wars / Alien mash-up featured Darth Maul - so now I have a trilogy! I think that after all the time and effort this one took - it will probably be my last! (At least for a while.)
This is an original depiction of George Lucas's/Disney's and HR Giger's copyright characters. Drawn freehand in Photoshop using a Wacom pad - this is a low res version.
The only thing that would make this better was if there was blaster fire going off. Blaster bolts are so hot, they'd probably cause cauterized wounds, and the stun setting definitely wouldn't expose them to that super caustic acid. And maybe one Trooper being lifted off the ground via an impaling tail.
I love the two closest to the scene, because you know that Stormie is about to blow that Xeno's face off! Even with his helmet on, he must be saying "you feeling lucky, huh?"
Aliens are not major characters, thus,no Stormtrooper Effect!
No Stormtrooper Effect means Stormtroopers are not piss poor bumblefucks and are,as they are normally meant to be; Elite Space Marines!
My moneys on the Stormtroopers, though Aliens are also quite vicious at such close range,so I can expect there will be numerous casualties for both sides.
But in the end a lone Stormtrooper Officer rises from the mess of blood and burned carcasses of the massacere.
He throws off his beaten and malfunctioning helmet, his armor busted up,cracked and has small splatters of Alien acid blood which slowly and tediously eat away at the surface of his blaster-proof cocoon.
He examines the area one last time, cautious and on alert for any more of the extraterrestrials as he contacts Lord Vader to evaluate a status report.
"My lord........all extraterrestrial intruders terminated.......for now.", he states as he replaces the drained battery of his DLT-19 heavy blaster rifle and gives a hard slap to make sure it's set.
The Officer turns to the abandoned hallways, the sounds of hissing and scratching heard ahead,as he trods deeper into the pathway, ready and willing to give hell to the life-form(s) that may be hidden ahead.....
Also, the only reason the Ewoks crushed (quite literally) the Imps was their familiarity with the terrain they were fighting on, not to mention the fact that the Imps were practically wiping the floor with the Ewoks, they were just outnumbered 100:1.
