Haven't really been active on the dA recently for a whole bunch of reasons (personally important and also distraction related (looking at you, Champions Online), but I have returned today to impart great news to those of you who are watching and will hopefully watch in the future.
I'm happy to announce that my first solo poetry works book, the space between the eyes, has been published and printed this month and will be available in very limited quantities following the official book launch event on 13th May 2013.
Alongside Brayden Sawatzky's A Breath of Light and the Poets Potpourri Society anthology Picking Flowers (honoring the late Thurlow Gowan), the space between the eyes is a follow-up to A Trail of Light [poems for the journey] by myself, Sawatzky and Gowan back in 2010.
The book launch will occur as part of the Poets Potpourri Society's "Blue Moon" Reading series event at the date, time and place below.
13th May 2013 // 6:30pm Pacific Standard Time
Fraser Valley Regional Library
Clearbrook Branch
32320 George Ferguson Way*
Abbotsford BC Canada
* There is additional access to this location through the (Trethewey Street X Veterans' Way) intersection.

[the space between the eyes] FAQ
How will the book be available?
Currently, the only way you will be able to obtain a copy of the space between the eyes is directly from me at the book launch or at upcoming Poets Potpourri Society events. I am currently considering, however, making a quantity of the physical books available for online purchase through my deviantArt page and Paypal transactions -- and furthermore look into the possibility of adapting a digital eReader version -- depending on the demand for local sales.
Keep in mind that the total print run for SBE is microscopic compared to other books that are sold through regular commercial means.
How much will the book cost to purchase?
The regular price of SBE will be $12.50 in Canadian currency. It will be sold for a small discount at the book launch event, and will be slightly increased in (theoretical) internet sales to cover sending costs.
What do you mean by "previously exposed" and "remastered"?
Some poems have originally appeared in previous anthologies where my work is featured, such as A Trail of Light. However, I took the time to edit and rework some of these to fit in with my recent personal style.
What is #respectCoH and why is it in your author page?
(It's an odd FAQ question, but I've been asked why I put this several times.)
The #respectCoH Twitter hashtag was born out of personal experience and reaction to the closure of City of Heroes, a superhero themed "massively multiplayer online role playing game" developed by Cryptic Studios and Paragon Studios, and distributed by NCSoft between 2004 and 2012.
CoH was a large creative outlet during the years I was able to play it. By extension, I hope to additionally pay some small tribute to the various ways that I and anyone else can express themselves in a world where technology has become so important.
What is the Poets Potpourri Society?
The PPS is a local poetry group based in Abbotsford, founded by Donna Bishop over 30 years ago. Its membership live across the BC Fraser Valley and belong to a wide variety of age groups, ethnic cultures, and poetic styles.

State of the 'Art (who does that, anyway?)
Been a while since you've seen this friendly face, eh? I'm going to be outright honest, dA hasn't really been grabbing my attention too much since the site's redesign. I thought I could wait it out a bit and see what improvements would be made in the time following Eclipse's launch but... while some features I've seen are good, I'm still kinda wishing they didn't futz with what worked, y'know? So, I'm mostly just lurking around these days. This otherwise-silent protagonist really appreciates the continued support for the Infinix art that's posted on the gallery-- I definitely notice all your notifications that pop up every time someone faves a piece! Don't think I'm going anywhere either. If for naught else, dA has always been a place for me to discover artists I'd potentially like to commission for my little superhero projects, so that's something I'd like to hopefully continue. Probably need to put a little more effort into figuring how this site works, though. Stay super! NIX

Public service announcement, brought to you by a very belated Robenix. I had been meaning to post something about this last year, when this issue first became known to me, but I've been busy dealing with work and was just generally grappling with whether or not to post as others were looking into it. Long story short, it came to light in late 2020 that a user on the Echoes of the Multiverse fan forum by handle of Gamebook had been taking commissioned artwork from various sites, including DeviantArt and Facebook, and using them to represent characters for his Mutants and Masterminds fan builds. The thread that they are posted in is over 400 pages long and goes back over four and a half years or so-- and while it includes things from established properties (Marvel, DC, Warhammer, Transformers, etc.) there's also a lot of OC artwork as well and that's what I wanted to bring attention to here. While I would say the stat builds themselves are innocuous, there's many, MANY instances where
One year of Twitch. Four years of Infinix.
Things are officially set up for the one-year Twitch anniversary (which coincides with my mascot/herosona OC Infinix's birthday). On 23rd June I'll be streaming most of the day on my Twitch channel. I also have an AMA going on my Facebook page and Discord server (see the askmeanything-infinix4th channel) where people can ask me about my various characters and ideas, including Infinix and my story idea Earth-88. Answers for the questions will be read live on stream! Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2872511176179875 Discord: https://discord.gg/6FK7VQP And, that's not all. As part of the AMA, anyone who submits at least one question to FB or Discord before the end of 22nd June will be entered for a raffle to win a sketch from artist Jonathan Rector, that I'll commission as my Patreon reward for next month. Hope to catch you at the stream!
I posted my thoughts on Eclipse...
... in the comments section of the dev Journal, where it's inevitably swallowed by the incessant rageposting and spamming. So for your convenience, here's my thoughts on it (with minor edits). The Journal linked below does say that there's still stuff being worked on (including features that were "removed"), but as I've mentioned in my thoughts... even if I can somewhat work with it now, Eclipse really should not have been pushed live in this incomplete, unoptimized state. Honest feedback here: I don't hate the idea of modernizing the site but I am not on board with some of the layout choices. There's too much spacing (especially title banners and the Instagram/Facebook style status updates) to the point where I have to set my browser zoom to about 80% to get it to a point where it's even a little more comfortable to look at (which then slightly breaks other things). Other things that used to be easy aren't as intuitive anymore. I can get used to the split of devwatch and
