well yes lol - I really like self portraits - it has to be the hardest thing to draw? (everyone sees themself in way others do not)
also I wonder how you managed to blend it all so smooth (has a feeling its called working the shades for days and days) hehe

yeah the wierd part is there is a natural tendency to give other people similar features as yourself even if you can't pull off a proper self portrait that looks like you.
It's just acrylic washes over a ground of a peachish color. it's actually very fast heh

Really well done. Looks like it could be used for a book cover.

Ah, complimentary colours...

I think the background works nicely as well. It's difficult to carry off detailed backgrounds in portraiture, and they do tend to distract the viewer from the actual person. So I like it as it is. As usual, I can't find anything to fault; detailing, light and shadow and contrast are all excellent. Did you work from a photo?

it's nice to leave the background simple. keeps the focus on you. it's interesting (in a good way) how you gave your skin a yellow tint and everything else purple. as per usual, your shading and anatomy is excellent :D but something I find weird (in a bad way) is how in the full view I can see clear brush strokes that don't match up with the paint strokes. did you go over this with a finisher or something to make it look like that? I personally prefere to see real brush strokes in a painting, but whatever, it doesn't really take away from the picture overall.

that would be the gesso ground ove many layers of paint. This canvas has been used many times lol. Nothing much to do except just keep working the colors until it can't be seen.

Although you need to squint and go real close to see it in person the camera tends to exaggerate those things.
