New York Surrogates Courthouse and Municipal Bldg.

In class last night, I gave a presentation on Max Weber's definition of the state and professional politicians, and used this picture to represent bureaucracy.  The smaller, older building to the left is the New York Surrogates Courthouse (Hall of Records) built in 1907, while the much larger building is the New York Municipal Building completed shortly thereafter in 1914.  The Municipal Building inspired the design of the Cleveland Terminal Tower, the Chicago Wrigley Building, and Stalin's Seven Sisters skyscrapers in Moscow, Russia.  Together, the two buildings have an area of over a million square feet.

A great building and one I have aimed to draw. I like the design of arches.
