lore (ish):
river's a normal girl who grew up in a toxic family. she grew up telling herself her emotions weren't important, causing her to have huge outbursts. her parents favorited her sister, who was a c-section golden child.
river was pushed to ber breaking point when her parents openly emotionally abused her. that night she ran away into the woods behind her house. she met another girl in the woods, cassie (cass) (ref coming soon hehe) and she stayed over at cass's house acting as cass's cousin. she ended up falling in love with cassie and explaining her situation. cass tells her she's not safe and that she should leave. the two scrape together enough money for a train to another small town called brookvale, where they attempt to start their own life and survive.
