Description

This one's a but more rounded out than the other wip, but it's still a bit awkwardly colored. Especially on the uh, abdomen? The spider butt :I
It sadly won't be finished

Okay, think what you may about this but damn I think that's cool as heck ._. I'm in a way reminded of Titan Quest's arachnid enemies, but they didn't look as cool as this one :o

Okay so yeah, onto the actual critique, something a little more substantial than "cool" xD
I gotta agree with the previous comment, there's a lot improvement (yet again) and especially the colours look quite amazing! I'm left wondering how I seem to be wallowing in the same cesspit of things I draw and the way I draw them and how you seem to constantly innovate yourself in these small but meaningful ways. It's kinda awesome!
First off, the lineart is as good as it has always been. I can't speak for anyone else but myself, but I really like how your style has evolved into this whisper-thin lineart that still has such a lovely contrast with the colour. I find myself struggling with too thick lineart, which takes away from the 'breathing space' from the colours and makes the entire piece look cramped and all in all not very visually pleasing. I think you've managed to achieve the exact opposite of that: the lineart is clear and has a good contrast so it's immediately visible and recognizable, which gives a lot of room for the little details to appear and asser themselves into the drawing so that the whole entity seems more detailed and vivid through being a little more complex than just the general outlying lineart. However, the lineart is not overbearing and too thick, but just thin enough to let the spaces in between the lineart to receive some proper breathing space and to not cramp the negative space as well. That alone gives the colours a dominant aspect in this drawing, which I personally think is very important in any work that is fully coloured and not reduced to a few colours due to stylistic choices or other such necessity.
Which brings us to the second topic, the colours. This is personally where I think the improvement-part comes into play, because you've clearly taken a look at how shading functions and how different materials reflect light. While most of the drawing is dominated by the basic smooth chitinous or soft leathery "skin" that reflects light pretty straightforwardly, as you have demonstrated quite aptly, namely it reflects according to its shape and generally reflects a lot of white light as opposed to reflecting the light based on the colour of their base colour layer. The main difference in material can be seen with the hair, the skin and the chitin, whereas the skin and the chitin share a lot of qualities in texture, but the small changes in how much light is reflected off the skin shows a minor change in texture. The main difference, however, is between the lighting and shading of the hair, where the light reflected off the hair functions as it should, according to how hair is a more of a "well" for light and doesn't reflect it as strongly off as other materials and textures. It isn't immediately obvious due to the particular hair colour from this picture, but hair generally reflects off light in it's base layer's colour, in some cases going off to as stark reflection as white light, which in this case happens exactly due to the light hair colour.
Also I have to mention that the design is something I always love seeing in your works. There's always something very interesting and all in all the designs are very detailed and intricate, something that I'd like to see more from my own work as well. That's, at least in my eyes, a big plus in any drawing if the design is nailed. I also like the little graphical touch of shading the background legs with a single colour, it brings a certain form of a more stylized drawing to the overall visuals. I honestly gotta admit that I completely forgot you like spiders, but I may have to say that I might be converted myself after seeing this ._.
I... Really don't have much substantial criticism towards this, I have to regretfully admit ._. Maybe the fingers could use a little work and slightly less reflected light might do some tricks, but I honestly can't say anything besides that. Good work, I say!
