This one's a combination of wanting to paint lesser known fantasy creatures and finding a lovely set of watercolour brushes. Kirin (or Xirin) are mythical hooved creatures, often with horns and scales, from East Asian cultures (Wikipedia link). When I was living in Japan, I remember being surprised to find that the Japanese name for giraffe came from the same source ...so I snuck in a little giraffe print to my design.

The lovely watercolour brushes are from gumroad.com/kyletwebster

I am here to tell you something awful: someone has used your picture on some Wiki article, and has given you absolutely zero credit! As a former art thief, I do everything that I can to redeem myself.

I believe this is a wonderful depiction of the creature, and I like how you incorporated flames, panorama, effects and ripples of suitable style. It really helps immersion.

This is very beautiful.  It reminds me of an episode of Korra.  You are a very hard-working artist and it shows.

Very majestic.

There are so many English spellings for Kirin, from Xirin to Qilin to Ch'ilin to Tyilin. I like Chi'lin because it looks like you're chillin' XD

Awwwhh yeaaaahh! This looks drop dead awesome~

I've been having a recent obsession with Kirin's especially in a game I like to play called Dragon's Prophet.
This one looks like a hod-podge of all of them to me.

And dare I ask exactly how you kept your brushwork looking so good? I have an Intuos, Photoshop Elements, and Sketchbook Pro. But I can never get the colouring right for my images whenever I scan them in and try to paint. >.<
