Hey everyone, so I'm deciding whether or not to rewrite my series at the suggestion of my best friend at school, who felt the series needed to make more sense and be more unique after I showed him the scripts for the first two episodes. His idea for the series would be that Dylan (my DBZ OC) was an average human being walking home from school, until the sky begins to warp and crack open, and his grandfather and older brother Justin take him somewhere safe (presumably their house) to take cover from the disaster. They survive, but when they wake up, they find themselves in an amalgamated universe where multiple characters from different universes coexist with each other (the real world, Dragon Ball Z/Super, Over the Hedge, Zelda, you name it). Andrew, Dylan's best friend, also survived the multi-universe collision, but unfortunately his parents died during the event. Now they have to find a way to survive on their own, with no guide, no map, and no knowledge of this new amalgaverse whatsoever. Along the way they meet Kale from the Dragon Ball Super universe (although my own version of the character) and the Warriors of Hedge (RJ, Stella, Heather, Hammy, Ozzie, and Ugandan Knuckles) from Over the Hedge and Sonic (kind of, since Ugandan Knuckles is a meme character), respectively.
The main villain of the first arc is still Evil Link, though, so the premise is mostly the same as in the original draft. However, my friend's version of Evil Link is not the same Link as the one from Breath of the Wild, as previously planned. Rather, this Link is from an unknown era in the Downfall timeline where basically, everything in Hyrule has gone to hell. Zelda was going to be his fiancée until she sacrificed herself to seal away Ganondorf (I had wanted the evil Android 21 to turn Zelda into candy, and this would have been a good cause for him turning evil, but this is my friend's own idea, so...), and since then, Link has been hell-bent on bringing her back to life. The seven Dragon Balls were not apparent to him, so he decided to use Sheikah magic, but that didn't work, so he used Gerudo magic instead. That didn't work either, but since Evil Link was so desperate to resurrect Zelda, he decided to turn himself over to his worst enemy, which is none other than Ganondorf. Ganondorf then possesses him, and over time, his appearance changes drastically; his skin turns a dull green, his dirty blonde hair becomes red, and his eyes turn yellow. When he finally does get his wish, Zelda is horrified to see what Evil Link had become, so she rejects him, and in a blind rage, he transforms into a Ganon, Deku Scrub, and/or Hylian hybrid monster, and kills her.
As for the Fake Warriors (which were in the original draft too, by the way), which are Fake Goku, Fake Vegeta, Fake Trunks, Fake Piccolo, and Fake Gohan, their real counterparts are stuck in limbo thanks to the multiverse collision, and as such, their fake counterparts are their replacements. They're still evil and based on the ones from Dragon Ball Super as in the original draft, though. So as a result, the Fake Warriors will have to come first before the heroes face off against Evil Link, to give Evil Link enough time to turn evil, probably spanning a year or more during and/or after their battle against the Fake Warriors.
My friend also suggested that I change Evil Link's name once he turns evil, since he believes that once someone becomes evil, they change their name since they are no longer the person they were before. That, and he finds simply naming him Evil Link is a bit generic. He also suggested combining Link and Ganondorf's names, similarly to how the fusions combine the fusees' names in Dragon Ball Z/Super, but I'd much rather go for something different, though.
So what do you think of that idea? Do you think the series will benefit from this rewrite, or do you think I should just stick with the original draft? Also, here are the original drafts for the first two episodes for those who are interested.
