Happy 74th Birthday, Based Ojii-san! by riockman Happy 74th Birthday, Based Ojii-san! by riockman
I saw my facebook timeline, and my friend shared post about the birthday of living legend anime director, Yoshiyuki Tomino.
Creator of the famous long-running real-robot franchise, Mobile Suit Gundam.

Then I decided to make this one quickly drawn pic.

Why I said that he is based? Because he gives no damn about viewers' or fans' opinions!
You know, these days anime/manga/light novel creators are pampering the viewers too much with giving their fetish-fuels in their works.
"Oh look, titties! panties! sexy abs! gore! dank action scenes! mind-blowing plot twists!"
Tomino? He's not. He's showing the people what he wants to show, and screw you all viewers, including me.

If you are a Gundam afficionado (just like me) or even a hardcore fans, you know what I mean.
Like... Zeta Gundam and Victory Gundam.
He's doing what people think is borderline of "AWESOME!" and "wait what..." in his stories.
But in my opinion, his works are fun and a unique ride. It's just... how can I say it... natural, I guess?
Not giving many dramas, he's showing what people should react or do in real lives if faced by certain problems.

He also gave some controversional statements in the past, maybe because he's starting to get senile or just tired.

Gee, I should finish watching G no Reconguista, even though people talks bad about that one show. Haters gonna hate.

Oh that is awesome! I love Tomino. Zeta and Double Zeta were both excellent. Have you ever seen his non Gundam mecha "Overman King Gainer"? That series is campy as hell and really awesome!

I didn't watch Gainer yet, but since I play Super Robot Taisen franchise, the title has been included in some of the games! Gotta say it's unique in some sort.
