READ THIS BECAUSE IT'S IMPORTANT
If you're considering commissioning me, there's some things you need to know, because it's stuff that comes up a lot:

1) No adult stuff
This means that I will not draw genetalia or any situation that is inherently sexual without genetalia being seen, and I will censor female breasts.  Barring that, nudity and steamy situations are fine as long as they're in good taste.

2) I reserve the right to turn you down
I might be a total rube and a pushover but there's some things that I will absolutely NOT draw in given circumstances, and that likely includes most cases of human nudity (even if it IS erasure-type censored), vore (but not all necessarily), strange babyfur situations (children are fine, but. . .), pieces meant to be grotesque, and anything I feel doesn't sit right with me including inappropriate situations for my personal characters.
If I turn you down, it's not personal, so don't get upset over it.  It won't help anyway.

3) You don't have to throw money at me, honest
I know some of you get all excited easily.  And then you want to commission me, and suddenly have no idea what you want to see me do.  I was under the assumption that people usualy had an idea then looked for an artist?  Do you people really have that much money? Especially when you have me draw my own character.  I mean really, that's like . . . wow.

4) I don't want to know about your financial situation
If the people who have spelled theirs out for me in detail are any testament, then all you people are deep in the gutter in debt. And really, that only makes me want to turn you down because you really shouldn't be spending money on pretty pictures when you can't make your car payment.  It's not that I don't care, but it makes it reeeally hard to accept it when it seems like I'm personally a recepticle for misused money.

5) It would be nice if you gave some feedback
I'm going to show you several stages of the picture before I finalize it, and I'd really like to know at the very least if I'm doing a good job, because I probably think it sucks at most stages of production.  I'm an artist and I have enough self-depriciation tendancies already.  It'd help if you tell me if you like it and not just what's wrong with it.

6) Payment in advance, please
It's not that I don't trust you, but I take payments from everyone in advance so that I have it down for my records the same for everyone, and so I don't have to chase down payments afterwards.

7) If you want the original
Please tell me when you order because it's an extra five dollars, and be sure to give me your mailing address, because that situation got out of hand last year.

8) About inking/coloring
I personally don't think either my inking is up to the same level as my pencilling, but nonetheless pictures do look better in color.  I would like to try coloring pictures that are just in pencil without inking, because inks tend to take off the subteties that I can put in with a pencil.  So if you really want inks on your color piece, we can discuss it.

9) If you're interested, contact me about it over e-mail
My e-mail address is rickpgriffin@bellsouth.net so you should really use it.  It's a lot easier to send you the in-progress pictures over e-mail.  You can talk to me over AIM too, but I'd really like an e-mail address because sometimes, when I'm done with a picture, you're not online, you know?

10) I prefer Paypal
If you absolutely cannot do paypal, then I will accept money orders or checks, but I won't put your picture in queue until I get them in the mail.

ADDENDUM
11) I do not need to know your character's life story
It's fine if you think it reasonable for me to know some background so I can get a personality profile, but if it's not relevant to the picture, then I probably shouldn't be reading a novel, and somewherei n the middle of this novel is a description of what you want.

ADDENDUM 2: THE RECKONING
12) No really, I'm serious, contact me over e-mail
I don't mind getting PMs, really.  But I have two sites that I can get PMs over and only one e-mail address whose inbox I am constantly looking at.  So please send me an e-mail.  Use your e-mail address and contact me over that.  Is it that you don't really feel like scrolling up a little bit to check what my address is?  It's rickpgriffin@bellsouth.net .  Is the problem that you use a web-based mail server and it's faster for you to send a PM?  Get Mozilla Thunderbird.  Or, if you only have hotmail, Outlook Express works fine.  Remember: rickpgriffin@bellsouth.net

13) I'll be more than glad to do some little things for you
If you want the large version, a small version, a cropped version for an LJ icon or whatever, mailed to you or sent over IM or if you would prefer to have it not posted on my gallery sites, I'm fine with doing that for you.  Really.

Collaborations!
I would like to do this: Anyone who I think can ink or color well can talk with me and we'll see about setting up a collaboration trade.  You can have me draw up a commission for you if you'll ink or color it for me.  We can do this like a regular hand-off or we could do it in OpenCanvas (but I can't host and I don't know why).

1) Yes, this is my judgement call
But if one of your color/inked pieces are in my favorites on Deviantart or Fur Affinity, chances are I think your stuff is at least as good or better than what I do.  If you think you can match some of the stuff in my favorites and I ahve not had the pleasure of seeing your artwork, by all means

2) We could do it in reverse, I suppose
But I really don't have that much confidence in my coloring skills.  But maybe working with different lineart will help me out?  But I'd really like it the way I described.

3) If I turn you down, don't take it personally
There is a level of quality I want to try for here, because I want to learn something.  If you're not a serious artist, then I'll probably turn you down.  If you can only color in MS paint for whatever reason, I'll turn you down, unless you happen to be an excellent oekakai-type artist.
It's a little harsh to say 'it's not what I want.' I really don't like saying that.  There are some people that are very good artists that I'll probably have to turn down too.  So please ask if you must, but understand that if I do turn you down, don't take it personally.

Any questions?
