Over the past year I have been working with many different graphic software and hardware. Upgraded to a new computer (still waiting on a new graphics card), Intuos5, got Sketchbook Pro 6, and played around with Iluststudio.
With the past weeks of Holidays I found myself cut away from my new setup and back on my old Wacom Tablet/Laptop I had since 2005 running the original Alias Sketchbook Pro (before Autodeck got their hands on it.) What a difference! Drawing felt like drawing again.
Sketchbook Pro 6 can't handle more than 20 Layers without slowing down, Iluststudio lacks after too much res or layers, Photoshop is Photoshop...The original Sketchbook Pro (on a 1.60 GHz Pentium with 1MB of RAM) never lagged under nearing a hundred layers, the pencil took looks like pencil...Not too mention draw straight on the screen with a stylus the size of an actual pencil or pen and not a cigar.
So my laptop is back on its easel in portrait mode taking back the role of dedicated sketching and inking. The desktop will be for color and finishing.
Hopefully this will make the who process much more enjoyable, less exhausting, and more productive.
Looking forward to the new with the help of the old. Got a lot of stuff lined up to finish and new ideas rolling in to start.
Thanks to all the Watchers have a Happy New Year and please leave feedback, suggestions, critiques, or a simple Hello.
