"Are you in prison, or are you free? If you want food and if you want to go on with this silly adventure - it´s yours after all and not mine - you had better slap your arms and rub your legs and try and help me get the others out while there is a chance!"
Thorin of course saw the sense of this, so after a few more groans he got up and helped the hobbit as well as he could. In the darkness floundering in the cold water they had a difficult and nasty job finding which were the right barrels. Knocking outside and calling only discovered about six dwarves that could answer. These were unpacked and helped ashore where where they sat or lay muttering and moaning; they were so soaked and bruised and cramped that they could hardly yet realize their release or be proper thankful for it."

It makes me glad you noticed a storybook-feeling - thats the feeling I wanted to create :)

I love the style of your line work! It gives so much emotion to the image! I had to laugh at the feet sticking out of the barrel in the back!

Thank you - there is so much more humor in Tolkiens Hobbit than in Lotr, so funny details are important :)

Wiedermal wunderbar gelungen
Es erinnert mich sogar ein wenig an Tolkiens eigene Skizze ( hem.bredband.net/johava/middle… )

Thank you, that was exactly what I tried to achieve when choosing this style and technique :)!

Much more convincing than some other, um, recent renditions.

The recent additions are more sexy though (yes, Thorin and Kili, I'm looking at you :) ). I found I was more bothered by the deviations in the LOTR fims, which had a lot of good things, esp. the landscapes, settings and most of the actors, than by the Hobbit movies; probably because they're so far from the book that I've stopped comparing at some point and just enjoyed the hot dwarves. :D

There is that. :D

Well, the book is now read for over 70 (!) years, I have some doubts that the same will happen to the film. But hey, maybe its just the old dinosaurs that have some trouble with the movie :)

I think the LOTR series will stick around pretty well, but the current series probably not.

I completely agree with you.
