An update of the original Starbound mech. The original was made about 2 years ago, so it really needed to be redone to be brought up to parity with the stuff we have now.

The X5C-1 name came from how I version my files in my work folder - it ended up with the filename "mechx5c-1", and I thought the alphanumeric combination looked cool and fitting.

I want to do this kind of art for a living but I can't afford a degree.  Where do I start?

I don't have an art degree either! The best advice I can give is to just make cool things. Open up MS Paint, photoshop, whatever, and just start making stuff. Learn, network, have friends look out for you, and as you get better you'll get noticed eventually.

I am so jealous of your pixel art animation skills. It looks so smooth and lovely.

I have trouble seeing the benefit of vehicles. At least when it comes to exploration and generally getting around terrain. Can't bring it down into caves, is most likely stopped by walls. The only use I see is for PVP, armor, and most likely a bit faster movement speed.
I imagine it would be a lot more efficient if it came equipped with mining tools, or maybe a limited thruster like the Mako from Mass Effect 1.

I love it though, smooth design and animation :D

I've compared this with the original, and WOW. This is such a step up, it's incredible.

Well done!
