Rhoey

Hi! My name is Nikoletta "Nikki" Lengyel, alias Rhoey, a Swedish artist with Hungarian roots — born in 1986 in the Buda hills of Budapest, Hungary, and raised in southern Sweden. I've been an artist since I could hold a pencil, and spent many summers growing up hiding from the sun at a desk, on a porch, or inside a hot tent, drawing for hours. I pursued art in high school at the Art and Design program with ambitions of pursuing animation. But life took a different turn and took me away from art — until my passion was reignited in 2020, when the search for my true passion in life lead me back to Art once I began to draw again after a long hiatus. I woke up each morning feeling like a child, eager to put pen to paper and create as soon as I opened my eyes.

Creating art has always been the greatest source of joy in my life. Art is profoundly personal for me, and springs from my boundless fascination with nature, mystery, beauty and the transcendent. In my early youth, I was inspired by animation, comics, video games and Japanese art, which has left a mark on my style. Some of my favorite artists are Yoshitaka Amano, Cicely Mary Barker, Elsa Beskow and Carl Larsson.

I work mainly with watercolors, gouache, color pencils, ink and graphite, and have been painting with devotion since 2020.

Nikki
