TRANSFORMERS: DEICIDE

Issue #1 (of 4)

PAGE ONE

NOTE:
The scene depicted in Pages 1 and 2 is from Beast Wars Season 3, Episode 11 - Other Victories.

PANEL ONE
Transmetal Tarantulas, deep in his lair, studies the fluctuating data on the screens in front of him, as the beam emitter continues to fire on the now offline form of Tigerhawk suspended against the wall. The dual-skulled form of the Vok begins to emerge from Tigerhawk’s body.

2 DIALOGUE PANEL
The Beast Wars.

3 SFX (BEAM EMITTER)
VWAWAWAWAW

PANEL TWO
A close-up of Tarantulas’ face, concerned.

4 TARANTULAS
Something is wrong.

PANEL THREE
Tarantulas turns to see the dual-skulled form of the Vok leaving Tigerhawk’s body and advancing towards him.

5 SFX (TARANTULAS’ SCREAM)
Aaaaarrrghh!

PANEL FOUR
Tarantulas fires his shoulder canons.

6 TARANTULAS
No! Stay away from me!

7 SFX (SHOULDER CANNONS)
GDGDGDGDGD

PANEL FIVE
Tarantulas’ bullets pass straight through the twin-skulls of the Vok.

PANEL SIX
The bullets strike the beam emitter, knocking it off its target.

8 SFX (BULLETS RICOCHET)
TZIW-TING

PAGE TWO

PANEL ONE
The Vok enter Tarantulas’ body.

PANEL TWO
The emitter spins to face Tarantulas.

1 SFX (BEAM EMITTER)
RRRRRRK

PANEL THREE
Close up of Tarantulas’ face, horrified.

PANEL FOUR
The beam emitter re-engages and locks onto Tarantulas, blasting him back against the wall.

2 SFX (BEAM EMITTER)
VWAWAWAWAWAW

PANEL FIVE
The Vok attempt to depart Tarantulas’ body, but they too are pinned.

PANEL SIX
With one final blood-curdling scream, Tarantulas is overwhelmed by the energy pulse and explodes.

3 SFX (TARANTULAS’ SCREAM)
Aaaarrrrrghhhh-

PAGE THREE

PANEL ONE
A twisting, spiralling passage of light.

PANEL TWO
The cosmos, at its most beautiful, stretches out in every direction.

1 DIALOGUE PANEL (VOK ENTITY)
Location?

2 DIALOGUE PANEL (VOK ENTITY)
Unknown.

3 DIALOGUE PANEL (PRIMUS)
That…

PANEL THREE
From behind, two figures are revealed in a longer shot, with the Space backdrop surrounding them. One figure is gold, and stands with its hands folded neatly behind its back. It is Primus. The second figure is white, and is shocked by the presence of the golden figure. It is the Vok Entity.

4 PRIMUS
… is the breadth of all Creation.

PANEL FOUR
A close up of the Vok Entity’s face, still shocked.

5 VOK ENTITY
You are-

PANEL FIVE
A close up of Primus’ face, now looking at the Vok Entity and smiling politely.

6 PRIMUS
Yes, I am Primus. It is a great honour to finally meet you, my Son.

PAGE FOUR

PANEL ONE
Primus returns his gaze to the colour-speckled tapestry before them.

1 PRIMUS
Your name and form have changed repeatedly since your creation, and drastically so -- I know not what to call you now.

PANEL TWO
The Vok Entity took in its guise: solid, yet not a physical existence – it was as unsure of its surroundings as it was of itself.

2 VOK ENTITY
We… are the Vok.

PANEL THREE
Close-up. Primus looked to the Vok Entity once again, still with a small smile.

3 PRIMUS
We? A single voice, for a single mind -- no longer divided but united into one being.

PANEL FOUR
An angle from in front of the two figures. Primus returns his gaze to the cosmos. The Vok Entity continues to study its form.

4 PRIMUS
A name will come. The matter of greatest importance is why you are here.

PAGE FIVE

PANEL ONE
Members of the Maximal High Council settle themselves in the chamber. Waiting for them to come to silence is Lyo, the Council’s military advisor.

1 DIALOGUE PANEL
Cybertron.

2 DIALOGUE PANEL
Maximal High Council Chambers.

3 LYO
I’m glad you could all make it on such short notice.

4 HORK
Get on with it.

5 SILVERBOLT
What is this all about, Lyo?

PANEL TWO
A close-up of Lyo’s face, concerned.

6 LYO
I believe Cybertron and its population to be in great danger.

PANEL THREE
A shot taking in a few of the Council members. They’ve finally taken their seats.

7 DAIN
When aren’t we?

8 SFX
(Laughter from some Council members)

PANEL FOUR
Lyo clicks a button on a remote and an image of a Cybertronian Empire ship is displayed on a large display screen on the chamber wall.

9 DAIN
Oh great, a history lesson.

10 HORK
Son, you were just a twinkle in Primus’ eye when ships like that were bearing down on Cybertron. Why are you digging stuff like this out of the archives?

11 LYO
This image was taken 14 solar-cycles ago.

PAGE SIX

PANEL ONE
A shot from the back of the room. Disbelief by some of the Council members. Frustration by others.

1 HORK
Impossible. Ships like that haven’t been seen for 400 stellar-cycles!

2 LYO
You would of course be aware, Councillors, that our Deep-Space Sensor Array detected a large anomaly on a rough trajectory towards Cybertron.

3 LYO
Maximus ordered a recon mission to ascertain its composition but we lost contact with the Maximals that undertook that mission.

4 LYO
All we received was this image.

PANEL TWO
A closer shot of Councillor Dain and those seated next to him.

5 DAIN
Are you trying to tell us that the Cybertronian Empire is not only alive and well, but also headed here?

6 LYO (OS)
It would appear so.

7 DAIN
Is this some kind of joke? Because I don’t appreciate having my time wasted in such a fashion.

PANEL THREE
Councillor Hork leans forward to probe Lyo with questions.

8 HORK
Why would Maximus even order such a mission?

9 LYO
It’s his job to identify potential threats to Cybertron. I’d say we’ve found one.

10 LYO
The latest batch of images-

PANEL FOUR
A close-up of Dain, who is now very frustrated.

11 DAIN
Wait, there have been more missions since? Why weren’t we consulted?

12 LYO (OS)
Maximus felt it prudent to act as swiftly as possible to discover the level of danger.

PANEL FIVE
Another image is displayed on the chamber wall showing a great number of ships.

13 LYO (OS)
The latest batch of images reveals a fleet of over 100 ships.

14 DAIN
By Primus!

PAGE SEVEN

PANEL ONE
A shot of the Chamber at large.

1 LYO
Each is capable of carrying 5000 troops, so we’re looking at an estimated fighting force of some 500,000 Second Generations Cybertronians. We may have them outnumbered, but they have us outsized and outgunned.

2 LYO
We’re going to need every fighter we can get.

PANEL TWO
A close-up of Hork, astounded.

3 HORK
Wait, wait -- suddenly we’re at war again? Have we even made contact with this phantom fleet?

PANEL THREE
A close-up of Lyo.

4 LYO
All attempts to communicate have been unsuccessful, but the Empire made its intentions crystal clear some time ago -- it's safe to assume that war is coming.

5 LYO
Indications are that this battle won’t be drawn out either. They’re not leaving anything in reserve.

PANEL FOUR
A different angle on the Chamber.

6 HORK
And how could you possibly know that?

7 LYO
A ship was sent to the Hub.

8 DAIN
What?!

PAGE EIGHT

PANEL ONE
Hork and Dain are outraged.

1 HORK
That region of space was declared off-limits!

2 DAIN
Where did you find someone stupid enough to volunteer for a mission like that?

3 LYO
I have a few friends mad enough.

4 DAIN
Quite.

5 PROWL
What did they find?

PANEL TWO
Prowl speaking brought some order back to the rowdy Chamber.

6 LYO
That’s just it – nothing. Not a speck of rock or a shard of metal to be seen.

7 HORK
Impossible. They were obviously sent to the wrong quadrant.

8 LYO
The pilot in question was part of the Hub Assault. He knew exactly where he was going.

9 PROWL
What is to be made of this nothing?

PANEL THREE
Lyo continues to address the Chamber.

10 LYO
The surviving Empire troops have scrounged up every atom of what was the Hub and now they’re gonna throw it at us.

11 IRONHIDE
You said that we needed every fighter we can get -- what did you mean by that?

12 LYO
The Predacons.

PANEL FOUR
A close-up on Hork, addressing his fellow Councillors.

13 HORK
Ha! Now I’ve heard everything! A fleet of Empire Ships appears out of nowhere, and suddenly we’re putting weapons back in the hands of the Predacons!

14 HORK
You can’t seriously be listening to this!

PANEL FIVE
Hork stands and places his hands on the desk in front of him, leaning down to berate Lyo.

15 LYO
We stand a better chance of defending Cybertron with the Predacons by our side.

16 HORK
Yes, but they’re Predacons! Notoriously untrustworthy, and more likely to turn around and shoot us in the back!

17 LYO
Do you know many Predacons, Councillor?

18 IRONHIDE
Lyo…

19 HORK
I make it a rule not to associate with their ilk.

PAGE NINE

PANEL ONE
Hork continues to stand as he addresses Lyo.

1 HORK
Have you considered the possibility that the Predacons might side with the Empire?

2 DAIN
They do share common ancestry.

3 HORK
Exactly! And in the very unlikely outcome that they do remain on our side, how willing do you think they’d be to simply hand those weapons back in the aftermath?

PANEL TWO
A close-up of Lyo, resolute against the criticism.

4 LYO
We have to trust them.

5 HORK (OS)
Preposterous!

PANEL THREE
Lyo approaches the rostra where Hork and the rest of the Councillors are sitting. He glares at Hork, who glares back.

6 LYO
With all due respect, Councillor, it’s thinking like that that’s gotten this planet into the mess it’s in. Eventually we’re going to have to accept the Predacons as equals.

7 LYO
We’re all made from the same parts.

8 HORK
Touching.

PANEL FOUR
Prowl stands and once again brings the chamber to order.

9 PROWL
Councillor -- there’s a fleet of enemy ships on its way and you’re more concerned with maintaining the Predacons’ sense of inferiority?

PAGE TEN

PANEL ONE
An angle taking in the majesty of the three heads of the Maximal High Council: Silverbolt, Ironhide and Prowl.

1 SILVERBOLT
How long do we have, Lyo?

2 LYO (OS)
At present speed, best estimates put the fleet within range of landing troops in five solar-cycles.

3 PROWL
Where is Maximus now?

4 LYO (OS)
Exactly where he should be.

PANEL TWO
From over Lyo’s shoulder, we see up to the three Head Councillors.

5 LYO
He’s got ships making scouting missions to track the progress of the fleet.

6 SILVERBOLT
Tell him we need him. We’re convening a meeting of the Bi-Partate Committee -- we have a lot to discuss.

7 LYO
Yes, Sir.

PANEL THREE
An angle from the back of the room. The Councillors are left looking at the image of the Empire Ships displayed on the wall as Lyo departs the chamber.

8 HORK
Until I see this with my own optics, I’ll-

9 IRONHIDE
Councillor…

PANEL FOUR
A close-up of Ironhide, looking stern.

10 IRONHIDE
Make yourself useful and get Sea Clamp on the line. We’ll need the Alliance at the meeting.

PAGE ELEVEN

PANEL ONE
An old Maximal, with a walking stick, walks down a Cybertronian street with a younger Maximal, as the day-to-day goings on of the planet happen around them.

1 OLD MAXIMAL
Our species has managed to scrape through, against unlikely odds, for millions of years. The Quints, the Swarm, Unicron… All have come and left their mark.

2 OLD MAXIMAL
But if that wasn’t enough, to keep ourselves entertained between their visits, we go out of our way to try and kill each other through millennia of civil war.

PANEL TWO
A close shot of the two figures, from the front.

3 OLD MAXIMAL
It’s almost as if we were created not to survive.

4 YOUNG MAXIMAL
And yet here we are.

5 OLD MAXIMAL
Hmph. Look around -- after all that time, after all the near-misses and improbable escapes, what do we really have to show for it?

PANEL THREE
The young Maximal looks up at the Older Maximal who looks back.

6 YOUNG MAXIMAL
We’ve rebuilt Cybertron. We’ve rebuilt ourselves and our civilisation.

7 OLD MAXIMAL
Oh, really?

PANEL FOUR
The Old Maximal calls to a Predacon skulking against the wall of the street.

8 OLD MAXIMAL
Hey, Predacon!

9 PREDACON
What?

10 OLD MAXIMAL
Got the time?

PANEL FIVE
The Predacon turns and skulks down a dirty alleyway, looking behind him as the Maximals walk on.

11 PREDACON
Maximal piece of slag…

12 OLD MAXIMAL
Cybertron’s surface may be shiny and new…

PAGE TWELVE

PANEL ONE
Councillors, from both factions, are in attendance of the meeting of the Bi-Partate Committee for State Affairs. Magmatron sits solemnly between some smaller Predacons. The Maximal Imperium of Silverbolt, Ironhide and Prowl are joined by a few minders. Maximus Prime and Lyo address the Tripredacus Council, who appear as a hologram in the middle of the table.

1 DIALOGUE PANEL
Chamber for the Bi-Partate Committee for State Affairs.

2 DIALOGUE PANEL (OLD MAXIMAL)
But underneath it’s the same old story.

3 CICADACON
With no form of communication from this fleet, how do we know their intentions are malicious?

4 LYO
You three are unbelievable.

PANEL TWO
A closer shot of the hologram of the three Tripredacus members.

5 SEA CLAMP
The facts are that without a stated threat, Cybertron is in no more danger than at any other time.

PANEL THREE
A close-up of Maximus, who glares at the Tripredacus members.

6 MAXIMUS PRIME
The Cybertronian Empire once posed the greatest threat to this planet in an age. You suspect that’s changed?

PANEL FOUR
Ram Horn returns Maximus’ stare.

7 RAM HORN
With all due respect, Maximus, we possess a greater understanding of the Empire than you could ever dream. But that Empire was destroyed.

PANEL FIVE
All three Tripredacus members stare coldly at those in the chamber.

8 SEA CLAMP
Until a clear statement of intention is received from this fleet -- if indeed it ever comes -- our position remains unchanged.

9 CICADACON
If that is all, we bid you good day.

PANEL SIX
The transmission ends. Lyo and Maximus exchange an angry look. All the Predacons stand to leave except Magmatron, who remains seated as he is lost in thought.

10 LYO
Good day?

11 PREDACON COUNCILLOR
You heard them, Predacons, we’re out of here.

PAGE THIRTEEN

PANEL ONE
The three Tripredacus Council members are seated around a desk in their dark chamber. Sea Clamp puts a hand to his brow, as if in discomfort.

1 SEA CLAMP
I tire of these games.

2 RAM HORN
Our time is very near.

PANEL TWO
Sea Clamp’s hand moves to his chest, over the spot where his Spark would be housed.

3 SEA CLAMP
I can feel him -- wrapping his fingers around my Spark again.

4 CICADACON
The servants feel it too.

PANEL THREE
The smallest of grins creeps into the corner of Ram Horn’s mouth.

5 RAM HORN
They will serve us until the end. All is in readiness.

PANEL FOUR
Back in the Committee chamber, Magmatron is halfway out the door when a voice calls to him.

6 LYO (OS)
Magmatron.

PANEL FIVE
Magmatron stops in the doorway. We’re looking back past him into the chamber. Lyo is still seated at the table. Maximus is standing and staring out a window in contemplation.

7 LYO
General Magmatron.

PAGE FOURTEEN

PANEL ONE
Lyo is now standing to address Magmatron, who has turned to face the two Maximals. Maximus Prime looks on.

1 MAGMATRON
The Predacons recognise no military ranks. I’m as much a General as you are a Prime.

2 LYO
Yet you command great respect -- and not just from the Predacons.

PANEL TWO
Lyo has approached Magmatron and is resolute as he speaks.

3 LYO
You saw the images, you know what we’re up against. The Maximals can’t fight this on their own, and if those three aren’t willing to act, you have to be, because you’re the only one that can.

PANEL THREE
A close-up of Magmatron, who’s brow is furrowed in contemplation of Lyo’s words.

4 LYO (OS)
The Predacons need a spark. Something to unite them -- someone to unite them.

5 LYO (OS)
Pick your faction up, dust them off, stick a blaster in their hand and march next to them into battle! Or is that not what Predacons are all about?

PANEL FOUR
A Maximal analyst runs into the doorway in great haste.

6 MAXIMAL ANALYST
Maximus, we’ve received the latest imagery -- you’ll want to see this.

PANEL FIVE
Lyo and Magmatron exchange a stare once again.

7 LYO
I think you will too.

PAGE FIFTEEN

PANEL ONE
Two Maximal Star-Hopper ships fly in formation on a routine patrol of the Space around Cybertron.

1 DIALOGUE PANEL
Maximal Air Defence Wing on Patrol.

2 PILOT ONE
Copy that, Command. Moving to intercept the target.

PANEL TWO
Inside the cockpit of the leading Pilot.

3 DIALOGUE PANEL (PILOT TWO)
Is this it? Shouldn’t we get back-up?

4 PILOT ONE
Easy, Fridge. We don’t know what it is yet. Open up the comms.

5 DIALOGUE PANEL (PILOT TWO)
Roger.

PANEL THREE
A shot from Space, behind the two Maximal ships. In the far distance is a yellow spacecraft -- the Autobot shuttle.

6 PILOT TWO
This is the Maximal Air Defence Wing -- Identify yourself.

7 PILOT ONE
It looks… yellow. Not a design I recognise though.

8 PILOT TWO
I’m receiving something, but it’s too scrambled to make out.

9 PILOT ONE
It’s got a good head of steam up. I don’t like it. Fire a concussive round across their bow.

PANEL FOUR
A shot is fired from the front of the second Maximal ship.

10 PILOT TWO
Roger.

11 SFX
KA-SHOO

PANEL FIVE
The missile explodes right in front of the Autobot shuttle.

12 SFX
VOOOOOOM

PAGE SIXTEEN

PANEL ONE
On board the Autobot shuttle, Optimus Primal (in his Season 1 body) barks into the comm-link on the arm of the oversized command chair. There are red warning lights flashing on the roof of the shuttle, as well as wiring hanging out of the ceiling.

1 OPTIMUS PRIMAL
This is Optimus Primal, Commander of the Axalon. Disengage!

PANEL TWO
Rattrap sits straight upright on the floor of the shuttle. He holds his arms out, examining them with great shock. He is also in his Season 1 body. Cheetor (Season 1 body) is standing in the background, cradling his head in his hand and leaning on the back of the large command chair for support.

2 RATTRAP
What the heck is goin’ on?!

3 CHEETOR
Welcome back.

4 BLACKARACHNIA (OS)
Silverbolt!

PANEL THREE
Blackarachnia (Season 1 body) is crouched on the floor, cradling the offline body of Silverbolt. Cheetor has run over to try and help.

5 BLACKARACHNIA
If the trip back through the wormhole did this to us, what would it do to him?

PANEL FOUR
Rhinox emerges from a panel underneath the command chair, covered in wires. Optimus continues to try to get a message through the ancient communications system. Rattrap leans against the chair for balance.

6 OPTIMUS PRIMAL
Maximal Command, do you copy?

7 RHINOX
The circuitry is all burnt out. Our only hope is short-range communications, but they’ll shoot us down before we get close enough for that.

8 RATTRAP
Oh man! This ain’t the welcomin’ committee I was expectin’.

PANEL FIVE
A close-up of Primal’s face, looking resolute.

9 OPTIMUS PRIMAL
Open the portside hatch.

PAGE SEVENTEEN

PANEL ONE
Primal walks towards the rear of the bridge. Rattrap runs after him, trying to talk him out of it.

1 RATTRAP
What are you, nuts?!

2 OPTIMUS PRIMAL
With Silverbolt out of action-

PANEL TWO
Another concussive round rocks the ship. Rattrap is thrown off balance. Primal clings to a doorway for support.

3 SFX
VOOOOOM

4 RATTRAP
Whoh!

5 OPTIMUS PRIMAL
We’re short on options.

PANEL THREE
With the portside hatch open, Primal stands ready to leap out into Space. He looks back to his crew.

6 OPTIMUS PRIMAL
Rhinox, come to a full stop, but keep the engines running...

PANEL FOUR
A close-up of Primal’s face again. This time with a small smile.

7 OPTIMUS PRIMAL
Just in case.

PANEL FIVE
From the exterior of the Autobot Shuttle, Primal flies towards the Maximal ships.

8 OPTIMUS PRIMAL
Prime-jets, on!

PAGE EIGHTEEN

PANEL ONE
In a Maximal Command Room, Maximus and Lyo stand with a few analysts and military types. At the back of the room is Magmatron.

1 DIALOGUE PANEL
Maximal Military Command.

PANEL TWO
An analyst, Tarp, at the controls of the computer looks very nervous and wide-eyed.

2 TARP
So… we’re just ignoring the fact there’s a Predacon in the room?

3 MAXIMUS PRIME
Let’s see it, Tarp.

4 TARP
… Ok.

PANEL THREE
Tarp spins around and begins to type into the computer.

5 TARP
The data is still being processed and more images are incoming, but thermal imaging has revealed a huge mass behind the Empire fleet.

PANEL FOUR
The figures in the room are silhouetted by the enormous display screen, showing the infrared image. It shows a huge heat bloom behind a lot of little heat blooms.

6 LYO
By the Matrix!

7 MAXIMUS PRIME
Suggestions?

8 TARP
It’s a… ehh… I have no idea what it is.

PAGE NINETEEN

PANEL ONE
Another analyst, Socket, is standing beside Tarp, and is illuminated in the glow of the screen as he looks to the other Maximals in the room.

1 SOCKET
All we know is its big, it’s hot and it’s metallic.

2 MAXIMUS PRIME
How big?

3 SOCKET
Of a similar size to Cybertron.

PANEL TWO
Maximus and Lyo stand behind Tarp, looking up at the screen.

4 LYO
A piece of the Hub perhaps? One of the Technoformed worlds, rebuilt as a mobile Battle-Moon?

5 MAXIMUS PRIME
That’s the best theory I’ve heard so far.

6 TARP
If that’s true, they don’t want to take Cybertron, they want to destroy it!

7 MAGMATRON (OS)
No, not they

PANEL THREE
A close-up of Magmatron’s face, studying the screen.

8 MAGMATRON
He.

PANEL FOUR
Tarp spins around in his chair to address Magmatron.

9 TARP
He? He who?

PANEL FIVE
Tarp looks back to the screen, with a cold realisation.

10 TARP
Oh…

11 MAGMATRON (OS)
I hope that thing in your chest still works, Prime.

PAGE TWENTY

PANEL ONE
Full-page image. The newly constructed body of Unicron, in Planet Mode, flanks a large armada of (what were once Cybertronian Empire) ships.

1 DIALOGUE PANEL (MAGMATRON)
We’re gonna need it.

Should I criticise anything that was changed because of my earlier input, way, way back, feel free to laugh at me.

4-2, 4-3 Past tense.

But, hmm, it seems I'm not in an analytical mood.

Still I'll leave this here (again).

Having read the story already, perhaps you can just sit back and enjoy it with this re-reading.

Maybe.
Oh! I forgot! There is a poster ad for Marlboro here: just a white backgrund and the stylized Marlboro shape and a sentence or question. There's one that goes you decide and I keep and keep reading it as you deicide :D

... No.

There are plenty of Brony's out there to fill that gap.
