Forest Temple by rffbassist Forest Temple by rffbassist
UPDATED VERSION OVER HERE : [link]

Did you guys know I liked non-Sega games too? Wonders never cease.

This is the first room from the forest temple from Ocarina of Time. I might go back later and add in the Wolfos, but it's more likely that this is as far as I'll ever take it.

Lemme know what you think.

Yeah. Shadow Temple was scary, but not as scary as this

Agreed. Despite all the skeletons and torture devices and stuff in the Shadow Temple, I didn't find it as freaky as the Forest one.

Not just the theme. While the theme is the creepiest in the series (with the Forest Temple being second creepiest), it's not only that that makes the dungeon creepier. The Redead Knights, Stalfos, Poes, and Ghoul Rats are all creepy ennemies. The Mini-boss is a POSESSED SWORD. The dungeon is full of spikes, decomposing walls and darkness. Also, it's backstory. A prison where people would be tortured and executed?! Who would not want to go into that?

Beautiful atmosphere! Loving the lighting and the shadows, and the door is fantastic. I'd love to see you revisit this and maybe try and indoor scene, with the light pouring in through cracks in the ceiling?

A pretty nice and interesting picture.
The two trees with one on each side look quite realistic. You can really see the bark have endured many years and the outer surface have gotten polished and scraped through the merciless and natural flow of time.
I think the right tree, which seem to be an ancient oak tree, is the best one. There is some moss growing on it, which give it an even greater feeling of being a part of nature and one with it for a extended time period.
The shading is pretty good too. Although the shadows for its leaves look too sharp and sometimes in the shape of throwing knifes, shurikens and forks, more or less depending on how you look at them.
The grass that is covering the ground, is pretty good. It is mostly light green and have some diversity although it has a somewhat strict and general pattern in the end.
The sunlight gushing into this temple is good.
The plants clinging on the man made part of the temple such as ivies, lianas, vines or what they really are, feel pretty realistic and good. I know they can have quite the variation and don't have to be the same.
Yet, at many parts of them they arent growing that much with leaves sitting tightly together and forming a stable and packed whole, that you can with the right circumstances, climb upon. You should have made many more leaves all the way, from below to the top. That is how the clingy plants should look due to me. Now though, it looks like you were in a hurry to make them and made so much empty air here and there to save time. Sure it isnt bad to look at artistically. Still i think it would have been better if you had made it differently.
The forest temple you can see in the pic made in stone(i think) and the wooden door with some glass are nice.
It seems you can see some dark layers on them, that arent shadows. Appears to be dirt, mud and maybe mold. If so, then it is good, because that proves that the temple have been there for some years.

It would be interesting to see you make a pic of Kokiri village in the future.

This is an amazing digital render. The Forest Temple has always been one of my favorite dungeons. So very mysterious.
The touch of sun over the walls illuminating the courtyard adds a lot of depth and contrast to the piece: it's even more natural than the dark and foreboding entrance in the game. Bravo!

Aw the forest temple was my favorite!! I forgot about those wooden doors.. so unique and cool <3

It was such a peaceful looking temple for all the baddies haunting it.. one of the more sacred like temples, like the temple of time :)

I did a few tutorials when I first started, but I learned most of what I know through just screwing around with it. It's really complicated at the start, but once you know some basic stuff, it gets easier.

The shadows were a dead giveaway that this isn't a photograph; they're too sharp to be real. That would be my only suggestion to you; make them less defined. But still, this is serious the best piece of Zelda related CGI I've ever seen and it definitely ranks high up on my list of fave CGI stuff, if not first :D Way too go!

This is really good. A more realistic looking entrance to the Forest Temple. It looks a lot lighter in here than it does in the actual game. But that's ok because I like that a lot as well. You did very well on the grass and shadows. Very professional looking. Also the trees look absolutely fabulous. Just overall an awesome job. :XD:
