Where I live has lots of wild parrots and other exotic bird species, so seeing them caged makes me feel kind of upset. I like seeing them flying in the rainforest ^^

Aaa, maybe you could try a smaller bird breed instead? I know there's the option of pets like finches, budgies, and cockatiels! Finches have the shortest lifespan, while cockatiels have the longest (but it's still not as long as a parrot's)

Personally I've had a budgie for 7 to 8 years, and her aging process is hilariously cute :'D

I work with big birds on a regular basis and it's alarming how readily available parrots are. I wouldn't recommend anyone get a parrot unless they REALLY 100% know what they're getting into.

If taken care of correctly, parrots can outlive their owners and they require almost as much attention as little children. I wouldn't get one for the life of me, because a healthy parrot is a noisy, desctructive and active parrot. 51% of all purchased parrots are put up for adoption before they reach adulthood, simply because people don't know they require so much work.

I'll stick with my snakes and lizards... :'D They'll grow old with me, but they don't mind if I am away for weeks at a time.

Ah, that's very true! I heard about this with parrots, especially about how parrots can outlive owners. I've even seen some poor parrots get mistreated badly or just wasn't given enough attention to the point they started plucking their own feathers from the stress. Something like that ;v;

Parrots are definitely for someone who has a lot of time and skill XP
I really want to get a pet some day, I'm not exactly sure what to start with :'D
Lizards look like pretty cool pets! But my mom's too terrified with anything reptile so that's not an option;3;

If you've never owned a pet before I always love to recommend mice or rats! :) They won't smell a lot if you clean them often and they are super fun to interact with. And because they are supposed to live in groups they can keep each other busy most of the time and they won't necessarily need a human to interact with every day!

Oooo that's a pretty unique suggestion 8D Most people tend to recommend fish to me as first pets but you can't really do much with fish lol
Unfortunately, my mom isn't fond of rats or mice either so maybe when I move out I can get one or two to start off XD

I think they'd be fun, but I just don't have the time to give them after my dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and fish :/

I wish! I doubt I'll ever get one since they're high-maintenance. There used to be a pineapple conure named Peanut at a pet shop we frequented. He was a little fussy and nipped my finger once when the staff brought him out but he'd roll onto his back and let me pet him whenever he was back in his cage. I wanted to buy him but I don't think I'd have the energy to care for a bird like that when we already have a lizard, dog, rabbit, turtle, and fish.

I love watching fish so much even though they're like the most basic pet out there XD
Wow, I love the diversity in pets you have there ;v;

I'd get one if I didn't already have fish { Way more maintenance than most people think they are } and didn't plan on getting a dog sometime next year. As much as I love animals I'm trying not to become one of those people who has like 5 different pets and can barely afford to take care of them
