Actually the town I live in has the 2 of the top 5 ranked sushi restaurants in the US. Definitely the best but pretty expensive. Everything is good and their sushi is so delicious that even those who generally hate it can enjoy the bits of delicious lightly cooked fish.
I say lightly because fish is toxic and full of bacteria that can cause nervous disorders unless cooked for a period of time at 120 degrees. The temperature doesn't 'cook' the fish enough to consider it cooked but kills the bacteria and helps the fish release the toxins.
The two best places are Suehiro, and Nimo's Sushi. Nimo's is a family owned place, had a coworker who is from japan and she said it was the only place she would eat home style sushi in the entire state of Colorado.
Omg you know so much ;A; I've heard of how sushi could be bad for the nervous system and all that but I never knew how you can avoid it O: I'm going to have to remember all these restaurant names so whenever I go back to US for a trip I can try XD Then again... So much moneyyyyy ;____;
So long as it's not mercury that causes those problems. There is always a risk of something happening no matter what food you eat. And fish get mercury and that is the more serious cause of nervous system problems. But it depends on if the fishes conditions and stuff.
I have not had sushi in ten years. :T And so although I thought it tasted terrible back then, I am willing to give it a second shot if I am given the opportunity.
To be honest it probably tasted horrible back then because it was homemade by someone just beginning to make sushi, and it was wrapped in seaweed. Which I know I hate. My dad made me eat some dried seaweed once, imported from Japan, and I was sick for days afterwards.
Haha yes i know how it looks like :'D Hmm well it looks good and once i'd like to taste it but the raw fish is ewww..... i don't really like raw things :'D. Once my sister ate sushi and she doesn't like it lol
Awwww XD I heard from Mahohaku it's not purely raw fish, it was cooked a little to get the bacteria out and all but yeah, I can see where you're coming from Cx When i first tried sushi, I never thought of it as "raw fish", I just think yum yum 8D
