depends- if it's something small like an icon or chibi, then I'll wait about a month or two before it starts bothering me. (I've actually been waiting a year and a half for some icons from someone, and 2 years for a sketch from someone else ugh...) big stuff on the other hand- I'll happily wait a year or two for- stuff like complex fullbody silliness. I know it takes me an awfully long time to get art done, so I try to be patient with others. and with art trades I take so long on those I have no right to be upset by however long my partner takes omg
It depends on what it is and if real life decided to drop kick several major life events at the commissioned artist. If it can wait, I'd wait I'm a pretty patient waiter for art but then again I haven't commissioned much but Sogaryuu, you, and Lonelicrown. And you guys were pretty quick with what I commissioned so it's all good ovo
I've been waiting for about a year for a 20-30 dollar commission, and I'm okay waiting because they've let me and their other commissioners know why it's been taking so long. I really enjoy their art and I understand the year has been hard for them, so I don't mind waiting quite a while. They've also sent me a sketch, so I know they're working on it
Most of the commissions I order are quick, medium quality, that I prefer to wait no longer than about 6 weeks for. Of course, that said, if I ordered something absolutely beautiful with exquisite quality, I'd be willing to wait much, much longer, about six months. Personally I don't feel like artists should take commissions if it will take them longer than that amount of time (and even then that's an insane time period), unless the commission is something large or extremely unique or difficult.
