Jareth Sketchpage

Since I did sketchpages for Maggie and Oracle, who are Labyrinth OC's, I figured why not continue in this vein? I do have fancomic aspirations, but I want to get some practice down with the characters, so here's the Jareth sketchpage gone mad. It's a lot of me working stuff out in my head for future reference, so we've got a profile, a front on, a costume based on the barn owl colors, owl form, pendant detail, and a teeny thing for height comparison of him, the Librarian, and the Wandering King. And a full color goblin a fellow RPer called Flegwit snuck in there too.
The Wandering King portrait is how I started on all these and I still haven't done a good sketchpage for him yet. So much art to do...

Anyways, Jareth and Labyrinth are copyright the Jim Henson company and of course David Bowie.
Watercolor pencil.

You do magics with colorpencils. :D

On a note to Jareth's hair: I find that if I use a base of a light grey-brown and then overlay with straw yellow and white I get a good base platinum blond.

They're watercolor pencils, specifically, and since this was partly a test sketch sheet... I'll have to keep that in mind for other coloring methods, thanks! Part of my problem was that watercolor pencils sometimes change color a little once you hit the add water part... it threw me off.

I love the look of the Librarian, and Jareth's owl-like costume! He looks very aged in that image. And love the earthy colors, too.

The Librarian has a lot of drawings of his own, but I wanted a height comparison to show how huge he is. The colors for the one costume were definitely supposed to mimic the barn owl colors, so I'm glad I succeeded, and he's supposed to look ill mostly, in the close-up, since it's after Sarah overthrew him. I used the cover of 'Black Tie White Noise' for reference a lot, though...

Cool! Yeah, the first time I saw the Librarian he looked kind of scary, although he also reminded me of one of the Mystics from The Dark Crystal for a moment.

He's a grumpy old cuss, but he's not that scary when it comes down to it.
There... just might be some inspiration from that, too. I wouldn't be surprised.

This is a pretty kickass sketch! You would make David Bowie very proud^^

Thanks! I'm... really not sure what Bowie thinks of all these fangirls for that specific role he played two decades ago...

True...But if I was him I'd love it!
