I SWEAR THAT I HAD NO IDEA MY OPPONENT PICKED THE SAME ANGLE I DID AND I FEEL REALLY BAD BECAUSE THEY LOOK SO GODDAM CLOSE BUT I SPENT TWO WEEKS DRAWING THIS AND THE DEADLINE IS TOMORROW SO I DON'T HAVE TIME TO CHANGE ANYTHING AND WHEN I SAW HER ENTRY I WTF'D ALL OVER THE PLACE BECAUSE GODDAM ARE THEY CLOSE AND IT'S FREAKING ME OUT. ARGH.

So, anyway, to recap, freaky ass coincidence, because my opponent- ~JEAikman, and I drew like the same scene, seriously just go look (she did an awesome job, btw)- [link]. I would totally change mine if I had the time, because she uploaded hers first, but I don't because I worked a double today, and have one tomorrow and the deadline is 2pm est. :(

For the WTS Summer Joust
Horse: Rocky Mountain Way (Black Sabino Clyde, in blue and purple) [link]
Rider: Sean Aden

Opponents-
Ada on Those Ringing Bells

-------------------
*Important notes- Sean is a btk amputee, if you want more of his story read his bio and start here.

I also totally imagine this is run with rules similar to Full Metal Jousting Rules.

Damp. That was Sean's biggest complaint at the moment, not that he didn't have many. He had woken to a world blanketed in fog, keeping the morning cool and dim, and with the thunderclouds threatening overhead, there was little chance of sun today. Mud was everywhere, squelching under the horse's hooves, being splattered as people and animals passed, sucking at his boots. As soon as big Rocky was ready, he mounted up, just to be free of ground and so he could stop worrying about accidentally loosing his fake leg to a too-deep puddle, unlikely as it may be.

His leathers underneath the armor felt damp as well, and he was hoping it was from the rain from the last few days instead of sweat. Though he hardly wore it in practice back at Rockroot, since they had reached Wolf's Tail Stables he, and Rocky, had been fully suited up for a few hours each day at a minimum. Most of his fellow contestants had been the same-some in bright colors like pink, or gold. Some were in darker colors like black and red. While Seam still felt that the blue and purple Rockroot's owner had picked were tacky, they stood out much less than he thought they would. They had last practiced two days ago, yesterday being far to stormy for anyone to go out. He had left the armor to air out in his tent, although that hadn't seemed to work.

He watched the first round as best they could through the fog, but for the most part it was hard to see much besides grayish blobs. He was perched on top of Rocky, who was standing several feet behind the crowd that had gathered. Sean had given the crowd a once over, a force of habit from his days overseas, before reminding himself that it was highly unlikely someone was carrying something explosive in the middle of a Renaissance festival at a horse farm. Even so, he positioned Rocky far enough away from everyone to be safe, and tried to watch the first joust. Only the crash of lance tip on armor told him that the jousters has successfully met. After one partially loud meeting, the cracking of someone's lance and then a very audible thud, followed by a ragged cheer from the crowd, he figured someone had been unhorsed. Sean applauded with the rest after the first jousters had made their passes, then his turn had come.

Nudging Rocky into a walk, he angled his horse around the back of the crowd and toward the start of the Joust run. He almost had to laugh as the stallion's apparent distaste for mud- each foot was picked up high, then set down deliberately as if the stallion was trying to avoid splashing anything on his white stockings. He patted Rocky on the neck, telling his fussy horse that he'd better get over the mess because he was not going to have him prance down the run like a sissy school girl. Despite his horses behavior, though, Sean wasn't worried,- when it was time to go, Rocky would throw everything he had into his charge, and they both knew it.

They entered the start of the run, lances hand up to him by a judge-and could just barely make out their opponent on the far side, the woman on the pretty little vanner mare with the pink armor. He knew they were tough pair, but Rocky had almost a hand a half on the mare and a lot more weight. She was quicker though, and her mare didn't seem to mind the mud as much as Rocky did. He eyed the run quickly- the previous pair had left deep hoofprints, half filled with murky water in the muck and mud was splashed up onto the white divider. It looked treacherous, and he was glad his run was so early as the footing was only bound to get worse as the day wore on. The call for the salute went out, and Sean and the women in pink raised their lances towards each other, before setting them back in the crook of their arms, asking their horses to charge.

The first pass Rocky slipped just enough that he missed the girl's strike plate and she touched his. The second pass was a tip to tip. The third pass-

The third pass her horse stalled a little, perhaps loosing her footing, but she quickly recovered- but not quick enough. Rocky was charging hard, and he had enough time to get his lance up and line it squarely with her strike plate. The resound crack seemed louder to him than any he heard yet, and his lance shattered. He saw pieces fling out, very glad of the required eye protection on the horses. Then he was acutely aware of his hand stinging from the force of the hit. She had landed a touch on his strike plate in return, but that was minor and hardly enough to upset his balance. To her credit, he saw as he halted and turned his horse, she had managed to keep her seat, but only barely, and she seemed a bit stunned. She took a minute to recover, gathered up another lance, and they turned for another run.

Right?! I was so confused when yours came up in my art feed as a thumbnail and I blanked on if I had uploaded it out of my stash yesterday into a group and forgot or something.. >< Thanks you! You did a great job on yours as well :D I don't think I'll try and angle like that again though, I had to change the legs on my horse so many times to get it right D:

You're welcome :D And yeah that angle was a bit of a pain (which is actually why I'm glad I could hide Ranna's legs. The sketch of them looked terrible :giggle:
