Description
It wasn’t long after Phoenix got her job at her father’s company that she really began doing what she wanted to do, and that included re-entering the dating scene. No longer bound by her father’s decisions on who she would date, she was eager to find her own kind of romance all on her own
Her first pick was actually Kaiba! She considered him a close friend and business associate whom she’d shared many adventures with in the past, which led to her falling for him. He rejected her despite his shared affections for her. As much as Phoenix charmed him and really felt like someone he could trust, he didn’t want to take that big step into trusting someone with his vulnerabilities just yet. He knew deep down he could trust Phoenix… but this was a matter of pride (and secret insecurity)
Phoenix took his rejection well, even playfully asking him out a few more times every now and then. She knew he liked her, she could feel it, but he just kept shooting her down. That was fine, it was typical Kaiba. She knew he was about as romantic as a box of rocks, but their chemistry was so obvious. She wasn’t about to waste her life waiting on him to get over himself though, so she started casually accepting dates from other men. The door of opportunity was still open to Kaiba, but it wouldn’t stay open forever. She hoped he would take that opportunity, but still chose to continue her search for the perfect partner.
When Kaiba found out she was broadening her dating horizons by accepting dates from other men, jealousy began to manifest. Despite his uncertainty about being vulnerable with her, he couldn’t stand seeing her with other men, even if it was just casual dates. Out of impulse, he began showing up to her dates to crash them. He’d claim to have come across them by coincidence, but wasted no time in putting the competition courting her in their place beneath him. He’d insult her suitors, pointing out their insecurities until they left in a frazzled huff, their egos trampled. Phoenix was understandably annoyed with Kaiba, quickly picking up on his jealousy. Despite how many times he ended up crashing her dates, he was still too chicken to ask her out himself, which began to irk Phoenix more and more. She wouldn’t be so ticked off about him crashing her dates if he would have taken her on one himself. She knows she’s in love with him, but her patience can only be stretched so thin.
Seems Phoenix and Kaiba are caught in quite the situationship before they start dating XD will Kaiba ever get over himself and finally just ask her out? Find out next time on—
next time on dragon ball z! (sorry I had to finish your sentence with that liner, I couldn't resist XD)
